Reid, of course, at your age you do know how hard life can be. You, also, know how good it can be particularly if you live in the United States. Life is really good compared most places on earth. Sometime though we don't appreciate it. I know that I have to remind myself of the goodness of things in general.

I believe this is a dangerous way to think because it makes us complacent. Yes, the U.S. is a fine place to live if, like me and I suspect like you, one is white, male, and middle class or above. For all others, it is a difficult place, with barriers at every turn to living a normal, peaceful life. We can't afford to believe this life is available to most people in this society; such beliefs serve to make us politically impotent.
So we need to support people who want government to work. Nothing hard about that.
EVERYTHING is hard about that.
Reid, have you noticed that anything really worth doing tends to be difficult, sometimes it is impossible until it is done.
