Can you imagine a mass demonstration where people not only filled the streets but also peacefully occupied interstate highways, bringing traffic to a standstill across the nation? I’m not advocating for reckless endangerment, but such an act could be carried out strategically and safely, making an undeniable statement without causing harm. That would make our anger and frustration palpable.

I love a march, or just a stationary protest. Someone in my town decided to start a protest at our courthouse. She emailed a few friends, who emailed their friends, and a few hours later there were a hundred people on the sidewalk with their quickly created signs. Leaders made a few rules - stay on the sidewalk, no rude signs, no engaging with hecklers. The attendees interviewed by our paper said they just wanted to DO something. One woman said that most of her friends were too depressed to do anything.
Many people who passed in cars honked and gave the thumbs up. We absolutely need ways to show the coup leaders that we have not given up and we need ways to keep our morale up.
Blocking critical lines of transportation is dangerous. It blocks emergency vehicles and everything else. What about a massive march on Washington though? A march of hundreds of thousands, reminiscent of the Civil Right Movement...except this is just the Rights Movement...for all people. Is anyone organizing on this scale yet? And what about sit-ins? Do those exist anymore?
It would take only 16 people to stop their cars abreast at an interchange of 6-lane highways. One car in each lane plus another to block each shoulder. Banners hung from the overpass would communicate the reason.
Quite recently a group of actual Nazis staged a demonstration like you’ve described. They all brought firearms and hung Nazi banners from the overpass. This occurred just outside DC.
What happens on highways? True, lots of shopping traffic. Even more people going to work and doing their jobs, making deliveries. You know who else uses highways? Ambulances, firemen, police, people as individuals responding to an emergency, and likely quite a few other things I’ve left out.
So how clever is it to stage mass demonstrations on a public highway?
If a permit was granted, then there would be lots of advance notice, police coordination, alternative routes provided. OK, so problem mitigated. I wonder how likely it is a permit would be granted?

Gale McCray, “Old man with a sign” is back out in Texas bless him. He’s replaced “Trump That Boy Don’t Act Right” with “America Elected a Fascist “.
Yes, a national strike is the least effort that might stop the Project 2025 takeover.
I can't agree with blocking highways. People hate that. It would fuel MAGA.
How about a march instead of a blockage. People can slow down and see what it's all about. Signs on overpasses are good as well.

Its the idea more than actually doing it. It would infuriate EVERYONE including supporters.
For those living near Washington DC: Remember when truckers blocked the Beltway by driving verrrry slowly around the 60-mile-long I-495?

Holy Jesus, are you out of your mind? That would alienate everyone.
