Joan, I have voted by mail in the last two elections. I must say I do miss the ceremony and camaraderie of walking the two blocks to my little town’s (pop 1200) voting site. No waiting in line, chatting with the poll workers, a nod & smile at my neighbors. That part I miss, but know the ease of voting by mail. Needing to “make sure” it got there (even if early!) and despite several nearby drop boxes, I drove to the county elections office to put it in the drop box right outside the entrance….wanted to be as close to the endpoint as possible! I don’t EVER want to take my right to vote for granted.
Barbara…completely agree on the loss of camaraderie…..but at 85 in a state with a complex ballot where spreading it out on the kitchen table really helps with ‘those’ propositions….AND walking the completed ballot to the mailbox…I’m a huge fan!
The reps hate ‘mail-ins’ (they can’t tamper with states like Oregon so easily when it’s universal…)..and I think it’s safe to say they may well be majority dem….
