What planet do you live on? Earth 3, where the sky is green and the grass is blue? We must have price controls and rationing of food and gasoline ASAP??
It's so embarrassing when morons like you claim you're on my side. Were you even alive in 1971 when that was done? Do you know that was what led to the stagflation of the rest of the 70s?

While I might have said all that differently TC, it is a fact that price controls were tried and failed miserably by none other than R. Nixon, of all people. Price controls especially can not work when the world or us try to levy them on monopolies, leaving but two options that come to mind; alternative energy sources and monopoly busting where *possible if it's outcome can be *assuredly positive for consumers.
Come on, TCinLA, cool your jets. I get your point about price controls and rationing, but the oh-so-briefly-implemented wage and price controls under that well known Bolshevik Richard Nixon did not lead to the stagflation of the rest of the '70s. OPEC deciding to strut its stuff, and the winding down of the illegitimate yet expensive war in Vietnam, among others, were far bigger factors.
Effective civil discourse, the gift of this site, and use of the derogatory and offensive term тАЬmoronтАЭ, are not compatible. Your argument assets something that I think may be true (the ineffective of the 1970тАЩs price restrictions) but instead of giving the reasons to those under (and over) 45, you simply attack, Trump-style, by name-calling.

You do have a way with words... (I had to type that three times - it kept coming out as "swords". Nothing A about my I.)
Sometimes, they are swords. :-)
And the pen (or computer) is mightier than the sword, or so we have been told. :-)
