I think President Biden may well reconsider his view regarding expansion of SCOTUS as a "political" move that will make such moves common. The SCOTUS is already corrupt and unbalanced via such corruption. Time to add 4 seats and "rebalance". Now would not be a good time. After the election, assuming both chambers of Congress are (D) and Biden is in his second term, it would be time to burn the filibuster and fix SCOTUS. Also, Sen. Whitehouse (D-RI) has some excellent thoughts on SCOTUS reform. See: https://youtu.be/RBpuW35aZHQ

Yes. Biden does not want to make supreme court reform into an election issue that republicans would twist and misrepresent. As you say, it is a pointless conversation until he gets 52 senators including manchin plus one other likely holdout. If Biden CAN pass such a bill, I believe he will do so.

Sadly you are correct, TCinLA.

For the life of me I cannot understand why ANY American, irrespective of political persuasion, could actually think that having a Supreme Court with the same number of Justices as when U.S. Grant was President makes any sense

Daniel , numbers do not make a difference if opinions can be bought. My concern is with those who are appointing the justices and why.

That's a most cogent way to put it, Daniel!

Thanks for that, Alexandra. After a long day, to have one of my snippets described as cogent by a woman whose small sample of commentary that I am aware of is quite cogent indeed, I am certainly appreciative!

Bartholomew Clark, thank you for the opportunity to hear Sen. Whitehouse (D-RI) .

What a learned American patriot.....a freedom fighter if I ever heard one.....so excellent!!!!

I agree we do not need (potentally corrupt...) justices to be appointed to the Supreme Court. We as citizens should make it known that we do not approve of any of OUR Supreme Court justices who allow their opinions to be bought. The persons who are contributing to this corruption should be named and held accountable. Justice should be for all Americans, not for just a few!!!!
