I agree with you 100% they’re backing Trump because they see that he’ll try and bulldoze anyone that gets in his way. This is all about the dumbing ing down of America. I think it starts in the school when they stop teaching civics and now they’re not even teaching cursive. I worked the polls. This last election and young men were coming…

I think it starts in the school when they stop teaching civics and now they’re not even teaching cursive. I worked the polls. This last election and young men were coming in and registering. I live in Nevada so you can register the same day and vote the same day. Some of the young men when I asked them to sign their name printed only their first name I’m shocked, what the hell is going on in schools.
Yeh.. Cursive.., talk about a canary in a coal mine. We can't even read our own writing anymore, let alone "sign" our name. It all began 30 or 40 years ago when someone said... "hey.. I can't read your signature..". And I replied.. No Shit dumbass.., it's my SIGNATURE.., geezzuuuss H christ! I was in the Air Force back then and in aircraft maintenance there were always lots of forms one had to "sign off" on. However, they usually included a block for you to print your name as well. Even so, some moron(s) thought your signature ought to be readable. Of course, part of the freaking problem was that nobody learned how to print worth a shit so the name printed next to it was probably un-readable too. And so, it was impossible to know who signed off the forms. No problem.., we fixed that. That's when "man numbers" were assigned. And, what do you suppose became your "man" number? Yup, you got it. Believe it or not, but it's all part of the mess we find ourselves in today.., being trumped at every move $$$$$$$$$$$
Our civilian GS-13 Tech Training Advisor's signature was sometimes questioned on supply requisitions. My standard answer became to ask them if it was basically thirteen loops before I told them his name. He became fairly well known as thirteen loops by the supply personnel who took over my description and passed it on to newer ones.
It's seems to be something of a puzzle for what to teach in our modern age, but it is clear that our minds improve with use. If AI does all our thinking for us, will human thinking and creativity atrophy? If AI does teaching and goes off the rails, will we even know before reality asserts itself catastrophically? If we are to (so far as possible) be the masters of our fate, we need to adequately comprehend and remain in charge of our own tools. Just always chasing the dollar could (and demonstrably does) erode the foundation of our own societal agency.
How much of it is school and how much of it is hyper-commercialized manufactured culture? I think that most of us mere citizens feel we have been losing control of our own society. Too many have been wishfully gulled into imagining that Trump is somehow going to fix it.
Not at all. especially in a corrupt authoritarian society. Thus the current authoritarians are trying to restrict and strangle evidence-based public schooling. Republicans have literally rallied around prohibiting teaching of "critical thinking", the foundation of the democratic process. and (such as our court system) our structures of goverment, and arguably, the principal engine of human progress.
Given my limited familiarity with the "law(s)" of Physics, that there is nothing gained and nothing lost..., I guess there is no reall beginning and no end as well. So, we're just irrevelent and might ass well fuggedaboudit.

They are not independent of each other, JL.
