Why the ENTIRE Congress isn't up in arms about Musk's activities and Trump's illegal usurpation of Congressional powers is beyond me. For all the effort to battle Communism over the last 70 years, battling Musk and Trumpism is far and away a more crucial fight for this country.
Entire? Because the GOP has been working to do this since Reagan villainized government and Norquist quipped that the GOP wants to make government small enough to drown in a bathtub, that's why. The GOP doesn't believe in regulating the wealthy, business or industry beyond enforcing contracts, all else is their failed "free market" ideology. The GOP is the enemy.
One would expect they want to preserve what power they now possess. Given just a bit more time and they’ll have none. They’re by no means members of the oligarchy, so they’ll hand the keys to the car to daddy and hope for a fair allowance.
The immunity of the Presidency does not permit him to simply eliminate programs approved and funded by congress, yet this is happening! The chaos is deliberate, a smoke screen for what is still coming with Project 2025.
So in the meantime, we who live out here in the real world are getting more fearful every day of the earthquakes beneath our feet. Today, I received my senior box from the local food bank. It was indeed, decidedly short of the normal amount of food. It will not last a month as was intended.
Which executive (police) system that democrats can control can arrest Musk for what he has done, and why is this not being done immediately? Which statues or laws is he currently violating that would justify his arrest? The dems "condemning" these actions isn't enough.
I'm not fearful. I'm angry. Don't underestimate an angry old British woman who's a naturalized American. I chose this country for it's fairness, opportunity, and democratic republic. I'll fight to the death for my grandchildren.
Agree 100%. After the Constitution had been hammered out, Franklin met a fellow American who asked him "Well what have you given us?" "A republic, if you can keep it" was Franklin's reply. Let's show Mr. Franklin that we can indeed keep it.
Shame on that South African, who's grandparents were racist Nazis!! And most of all, shame on those despicable Republicans that are allowing this to happen!!!!
Have been sharing this EVERYWHERE! This is information and a letter you can copy and send to the treasury putting them on notice that you feel your civil rights may have been violated under the Privacy Act of 1974 by Musk….
If I hear the phrase "Unconstitutional" again, I'm going to SCREAM! This is America, money gives you rights, money supersedes the Constitution, money crushes the Middle Class, money whips the poor like runaway slaves.
The Constitution was deem worthless after Jan 6 failed to hold anybody accountable.
The thing I don’t understand is if it is illegal why doesn’t the Washington DC district attorney send the police in to arrest the folks doing the illegal stuff?
It's probably just me, but sometimes reading your outstanding posts leaves me with more questions than answers. Painful lesson in just how little I know about the inner workings of our government - and here I thought I had a pretty good education.
I find it difficult to understand how our Congress, Republican majority or not, would be so willing to NOT speak out to Trump's apparent abuse (illegal or not) of his office. He represents the Executive branch and Congress (I thought equally) represented the Legislative branch. Why they would willingly abdicate power to Trump, or any President for that matter, is beyond me. Of course I have my suspicions, but they are mine only.
One thing I don't see addressed enough is the impact of our third Branch (Judicial) giving Trump immunity for his actions as the Executive. To me, that consequence means Trump can do whatever he wants and claim he has no personal accountability for his actions. Whatever he does is legal to him and, more important, by the time Congress and the Judiciary get their act together, the damage is done. He can do what he wants today - Congress and the Judiciary have to spend days, weeks, months, or even years to sort it out. How does that possibly protect and serve the interests of the average American? The short answer is, it doesn't.
Perhaps we should stop focusing on Trump and instead focus our ire on our elected representatives. Congress can say NO to Trumps actions in the moment but choose not to. That is not protecting us, ordinary Americans.
Why democrats are wasting time following the rule of law is beyond me. We must remove trump and musk. We must also remove all those self-serving congressional windsocks, that change direction to better themselves, at the cost of the American people! A person's character is Everything, and we should demand that from public servants. Time is a luxury we do not have, we must act now, before EVIL destroys our Government and Constitution. Dictators like trump and wannabe musk, need to be removed by force, trust me, they DO NOT recognize "the rule of Law", and in this case neither do I. As Heather Richardson so amply put it, "Congress will become superfluous" leaving only a dictator. I have endured almost 30 years of Military and DOD service in the protection of the American people. Our military has been threatened by dictators my entire career and we have never so much as flinched, why now!
Soldiers; Remember your Oath, "threats against this country both, foreign and domestic"
Who is it that CAN do something about Musk? Can the FBI and police go into the Treasury with Senators? It sounds like they need to use enforceable "force." A police officer doesn't go to a bank robbery and turns away when the robbers say they won't let the officer in.
This is an injustice to all American people. Musk needs to be shut out of the world so he has a consequence high enough by which to learn.

Absolutely correct.
Thousands protesting in front of the Treasury bldg at 15th & F right now. Members of Congress and plain old Americans.

I feel the same way. My heart goes out to you.
Thank you. I will be fine because my great-grandmother taught me all kinds of tricks for survival.

I heartily agree!

I desperately hope it doesn't come to that.
Me too but these are drastic times. We cannot live under dictatorship.

I am in complete agreement.

Thank you, Heather, for your knowledge, wisdom & the truth!

Good straight talk, Heather. SO appreciated! 💪

I think some Republicans are getting paid or have been paid, by Musk, to sit and do nothing.
