There was no immediately pressing news today, so I got playing around for tonight’s letter and fell down a bit of a rabbit hole in a field that isn’t my usual turf. Since it’s now 1:30 in the morning and I’m only half done, I’m going to post a picture and tackle it again tomorrow.
Favorable SCOTUS 8/19/22 Ruling in Georgia Case: Richard Rose vs Brad Raffensberger. SCOTUS reinstated a lower GA Court ruling postponing an election for 2 of 5 seats on the GA Public Service Commission (PSC) on the basis that the " at-large " voting system dilutes black voters voting rights. Amy Howe at www.SCOTUSblog.com has been tracking this case. The underlying huge issue is the changing of state voting rules close in time to an election allegedly too late to enjoin as unconstitutional. That regressive tactic did NOT work this time. It's not over. Author's Email: howe.amy@gmail.com courtesy of Amy.
How time flies. Boats and floats seemed to go in the water just a short time ago. The long days and early sunrises of summer are shorter. The nights are cooler. It's becoming real that winter storage is closing in. It's how a life comes and goes. But we always hope for another season. Let's do all we can for the next generation and not let this nation quit.

Rest well, Heather, and know how much you are appreciated for all that you do.
I wrote this to accompany last week’s photo. It really spoke to me.
One Transcendent Moment
For one transcendent moment,
grey and pink clouds,
shaped like an awning
hover over a glistening, shale-rolled sea,
capturing glimmers of pink
from the magical carpet above.
For one transcendent moment,
the gold and copper tones of sun
peep over the horizon
with their eternal promise of
another day – a day to cherish
as sea and sky herald bliss.
For one transcendent moment,
ashen wisps of clouds float above
the shimmering waters like a flock of
dusky birds headed for the glow --
as though beckoning a brand new
age of transformation and of becoming.
Abide in each transcendent moment …

Sweet dreams Heather, you deserve it. ❤️
Thanks for another beautiful photo from Buddy. Get some rest, professor. You’re going to need it.
Personal sad news this week made me desperate for something distracting that would bring a smile. Here's Randy Rainbow's latest:

Thank you Heather.
Rabbit holes and rest…
Sounds like a plan.
Ah, I can feel the onshore breeze, smell the salt air. Feels like late in the summer school holiday...
Thank you for all you do!❤️
Thank you for the beautiful photo.
Please get some rest - looking forward to your next letter.
Get some rest. Take the weekend off-you deserve it. 😴
Heather, your early morning hours have reminded of a poem by Mary Oliver:
The Loon
Not quite four a.m., when the rapture of being alive
strikes me from sleep, and I rise
from the comfortable bed and go
to another room, where my books are lined up
in their neat and colorful rows. How
magical they are! I choose one
and open it. Soon
I have wandered over the waves of the words
to the temple of thought.
And then I hear
outside, over the actual waves, the small,
perfect voice of the loon. He is also awake,
and with his heavy head uplifted he calls out
to the fading moon, to the pink flush
swelling in the east that, soon,
will become the long, reasonable day..
Inside the house
it is still dark, except for the pool of lamplight
in which I am sitting.
I do not close the book.
Neither, for a long while, do I read on.
Sleep tight!
