Bill, this is why I have said repeatedly that anyone who ids as socialist here in Oregon will not win. Bill, this is why I have said repeatedly that anyone who ids as socialist here in Oregon will not win. Yes, I love to see people traditionally left out of politics win, but it doesn't help if some wing nut R wins instead. And we have some choice ones here in Oregon....the most famous probably being Art Robinson, he who wanted people to send him a urine sample. He did win a legislative seat in the Oregon legislature after trying to unseat DeFazio. We donate widely even out of Oregon to help Ds who have a chance to win. Already we are seeing political ads against the R rep for the 5th district pointing out her support for wing nut policies. First we have a primary and one of the candidates is acting like she is already the candidate and she lost last time because she is too far left and cannot win here in Marion County. We do have a good candidate who has already demonstrated that she can the R as she has before for a legislative seat here.
I usually get beat up on these boards if I dare suggest moderation. It’s my belief that talking points are given by those who were chosen by big money to run for office. Yes, that ole Citizens United does indeed have an effect even if we don’t notice it. Unlimited money will eventually doom the nation. That’s a given in my opinion.
To me politics is the art of the possible. Here in Oregon Ds have been stymied in the Senate by Rs walking out to deny a quorum, so nothing gets done. I once pointed out to a friend that his rep was not going back on his campaign promises, but found out that once in the legislature, compromise would prevail. It was a gross sin for me to say this to him and he after that was against anything I said which caused him once to insist that Auschwitz is touristy. As for legislative walkout last session, Oregon voters passed a measure which said that if a pol had 10 or more unexcused absences, they could not run in the next election. The court upheld the measure. They will probably be replaced by people equally as awful, but maybe they won't walk out.
Auschwitz a tourist attraction? I went to see Dachau. I guess I was a tourist, but it was more like visiting the American Cemetery in France. It was to pay respect to those who died in Normandy. The Dachau experience was mind blowing how horribly cruel and sadistic people could be. What was worse was that some of them actually enjoyed it!
He had not been there, but he was busy at that point just sneering. He had seen some pictures after all. I did try to tell him that it was kept as a memorial to those who died and a reminder of what humans are capable of. The energy there was so black and heavy.
there should be limits to the amount of money donated. No big businesses in attempts to bribe officials. Everyone can donate up to a certain amount. I'm not sure how "fund raisers" like what trump had a Mar a Lago works when he made what he claimed to be 25 million dollars in donations or PACs etc. But they seem to garner a lot of money. Do away with those.
Good luck. The urine is a new one. trump likes to be the first in breaking rules, this might fit right in with the rumored "yellow showers." I never thought I would have that conversation in a presidential rally. It shows the level of sleaze in that party.
Art Robinson is a piece of work. He thinks he is smarter than anyone else He was once interviewed by Rachel Maddow. He blamed her for the slight gap which happens from a TV studio to a person far off. She tried to explain and finally just put her head down on her desk. I am sure she hadn't encountered too many loony tunes like him. I am not sure if he was a senator or a rep in the Oregon legislature. If he was one of the senators who walked out, then he can't run for the next term.

Amazing but good.

He lied he didn’t raise 50 million. It was an amount twice what Biden raised. Typical Trump lying.
