My MAGA daughter would likely have been one of the Nazi's who killed handicapped children in a previous life. This was organized in Hitler’s Chancellery from 1939, targeting infants with idiocy and mongolism, micro- or hydrocephaly, malformed limbs, head, or spine, and palsies. The consequences will be similar here.
• Escalation of Authoritarian Tactics: Non Action emboldens further erosions. Gandhi stressed that it is a duty to resist evil and not remain passive or indifferent when wrongdoing occurs. • Creative Nonviolent Communication: Use art, writing, social media campaigns, and symbolic acts (wearing armbands, displaying signs) to convey dissent and mobilize others without breaking laws.

Also, the Nazi's started with children who were institutionalized, but then were taking children from their parents, like if your child had epilepsy or any thing that was a health issue. The governor has also called for a boycott of Disney, ABC, even after Kimmel returned because of Sinclair ownership in parts of the state. Could effect the sports team Chicago Cubs. I am for the White Sox anyway as a South Sider.

One tactic to deal with Sinclair; if you reside in a city/town where the local station is owned by them, see what companies advertise on them. Then email those companies to tell them why they should not be spending their advertising dollars in this way. Not all companies will stop, but enough will to put a real dent in Sinclair's bottom line.

The situation reminds me of my college days at the University of Washington protesting the Vietnam War and Kent State killings by the National Guard.
There would be a demonstration with 10,000 people and while it got local coverage, it did not get national attention. We all had friends at other large universities around the country such as the Universities of Michigan and Wisconsin and kept in contact by phone. Turns out there were also large demonstrations there that went unreported in Seattle.

I just looked up the guidelines for a "citizen's arrest" in my state of Colorado. It starts with "seeing the offense." For example, when you see someone steal from a store, or someone steal a ladies purse. I would think that an ICE agent who arrests a citizen is committing a crime. I think that a person in our government who sends US funds overseas that belong to domestic program is subject to arrest. I think that closing federal programs that remove Medicaid and ACA payments from citizens is committing a crime. Firing federal employees without cause is illegal. Arrest the people doing that.

It is *not* sufficient for Democrats to be "not Trump." Democrats must be *for* something. If Democrats retake both houses of Congress, the focus needs to be on legislating, not a destined-to-fail impeachment trial. Pass that legislation, which actually might garner much more Republican legislative support than an attempt to remove Trump, and dare Trump to veto it.

James, the US needs to worry about their own soil. Under Trump American first, means America alone. Ukraine is under attack, but ahead of the game in terms of understanding how warfare works now. Trump is no help to Ukraine or Europe, but they can help each other. Russia is letting NATO countries know that they need to be better prepared as of yesterday. Jimmy Kimmel is a kind person. More than anything else, this is what stood out for me. He didn't publicize his message to Charlie Kirk's widow the day of her husband's murder expressing sorrow when it happened, because that was just what a decent person might do. Decent people don't demand praise or recognition for simply doing decent things -- it's just part of who they are. But ABC, Disney and Sinclair's actions compelled him to bring up that act of simple decency, since their behavior tried to pretend it hadn't happened. And It gave him the opportunity to remind everyone what real Christianity actually teaches, not what fundamentalist loonies claim it does.
It was MAGAworld that used Kirk's murder not to mourn, but to gaslight. In their dishonest zeal to turn everything into a political game for the far-right cult, they lied, claiming he made insensitive comments about "Kirk." He did not. FCC Chairman Carr lied about that. Sinclair lied and fulminated about it. The Mouse quivered like a bowl of jello without the bowl and gave in. (They'd already given the bully their lunch money once before -- surprise, he was back for more.)
Those are the facts. That's what happened. The tape is easy to see. Kimmel's comments were about Trump's stunning *disregard* for Kirk, for the suffering and anguish of others, to showcase the narcissism and tiny attention span of our snowflake President. They had nothing to do with Kirk himself. He showed the world what a precious little sociopath Trump really is. Again, those are the facts. Even after this, they will keep trying to lie about what actually happened. We will keep reminding them that they're liars. As many times as it takes. We can do no less.

Um...this isn't about Bernie Sanders. The pointless panoply of names serves no purpose because all those people (and many more) have already been working to combat the current grotesque proposed budget on their own, without being prompted.
It's important the country understand the limits imposed by simple arithmetic, then figure out strategies for playing a bad hand with skill. Back in February, Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) mentioned to his GOP colleagues that his vote to approve a budget was going to be a one-off -- the real battle would come September. So here we are.
Whatever the reason for Dump's refusal to meet with Schumer and Jeffries, it gives us a critical in they haven't thought through. Not to "negotiate" but to walk away. 'You want a budget? Crawl back and start offering concessions.' A budget requires 60 votes, not 53. Anything eventually agreed to can and should be used against the GOP later. 'Were it not for our efforts, x amount of cuts to Medicaid, Medicare (yes, the budget will force a $500 billion reduction in Medicare over 10 years if nothing else intervenes), the cost of Obamacare premiums (God, I hope they use that word, too) skyrockets.'
The GOP will get its way on most things, but not on everything. It's up to Democrats to play the losing hand with skill to extract as much as possible beforehand.
I think they all need to talk NONSTOP to anyone who will have them and make the case to the American public. Pick one clear objection/reason why they are not going along with it (health care cuts will hurt too many Americans). Intimate that the 'art of the deal' President is actually an orange chicken who is afraid to meet with them. Point out again and again and again how his announcement today is basically him saying: 'Give me what I want, Dems, or I start shooting Americans in the head!' They are threatening mass firings of all feds (30% of all fed workers are vets) if there is a shut down. The Dems need to point out how HE is doing this to the American people because he does not give one care about any of us who are not rich. The Repubs have all the power. What happens next is their fault! The Dems need to make this clear.
I was listening to a talk show on a local Sinclair-owned radio station. The talking heads repeatedly returned to the looming health insurance “crisis” caused by ending the enhanced subsidies. They urged Congress to act before it’s too late, but not once did they say the words “Obamacare” or “The Affordable Care Act.”
Shut it down. At this point the OBBBA has already fucked so many people and given tax breaks to the oligarchs that shutting down the government will piss off Republicans as much as the rest of us.
I agree a shutdown is inevitable and I suspect it will be a long one. It will be interesting to see which government employees are deemed essential and, therefore, required to work without pay. I assume ICE agents will be at the top of Trump’s list of “essentials.” They should be able to weather the shutdown if they didn’t squander their signing bonuses, but how long can longtime public servants—like those who process the Social Security checks or keep the airports operating—survive without a paycheck?
If they ("they all") stick to the basic facts as Bernie presents them, they can be united and coherent.

Other than a Veterans Reform bill adopted in 2014, Bernie Sanders hasn't had any particular legislative record of accomplishment in the past 25 years. Nobody in the Senate pays much attention to him.

That means it is up to US, to raid the stage, grab the mic from them and start speaking the truth. Bernie gets that, but he’s been a lonely voice at times, making him easy to dismiss. Phil, such a thing is indeed happening in Ohio. Check out Blue Ohio, founded by David Pepper. The group is working to fund Democratic candidates in red districts, including, for example, Jim Jordan’s. Of course these candidates have little hope of winning, but the idea is that the simple act of running helps shift ideology back towards the center at least - we all know that running essentially unopposed but fearing being primaried (see Mike Johnson) creates more extreme positions on the far right. There are plenty of grass roots efforts like this happening all over the country if you look for them.

I am currently in Nebraska having taken Amtrak across PA, OH, IN, IL and IA.
Most of the farmers have not harvested their soybeans because no one wants them with the added tariffs. The farmers are counting on Trump and the MAGAs to bail them out yet again. I have several relatives that are farmers and they EXPECT a government handout on this. I'm sorry, but I hope they don't get bailed out this time because of Trump's idiotic economic policies.
I drive past soybeans fields every day on my way out to see my horses, and you’re right. I’ve seen the wheat and corn get harvested, but not the soy. They haven’t been harvested, and now the leaves are yellowing and the plants are dying. It feels like an apt metaphor.
Soybeans, as with other beans-pinto, great northern etc.- are usually harvested in late Sept. to late Nov. depending where they are grown. They are usually harvested when a certain moisture level is reached. So then the plants yellowing and dying, as you observe, is quite normal as the bean pods must dry before harvesting.
That’s how the Republicans keep them in check. Bail them out, screw them, bail them out again. Aren’t they the welfare queens when they expect money for nothing?

My governor Pritzker is standing up for us and immigrants, as is our Mayor Johnson. The people of Chicago are standing up for immigrants as well. We see that the ICE facility in Broadview IL, is giving them nothing but trouble because people are there every day demonstrating, and there are people feeding the people keeping vigil. There have been clashes and people doing non violent sit ins as well. The situation reminds me of my college days at the University of Washington protesting the Vietnam War and Kent State killings by the National Guard.
There would be a demonstration with 10,000 people and while it got local coverage, it did not get national attention. We all had friends at other large universities around the country such as the Universities of Michigan and Wisconsin and kept in contact by phone. Turns out there were also large demonstrations there that went unreported in Seattle.

I just looked up the guidelines for a "citizen's arrest" in my state of Colorado. It starts with "seeing the offense." For example, when you see someone steal from a store, or someone steal a ladies purse. I would think that an ICE agent who arrests a citizen is committing a crime. I think that a person in our government who sends US funds overseas that belong to domestic program is subject to arrest. I think that closing federal programs that remove Medicaid and ACA payments from citizens is committing a crime. Firing federal employees without cause is illegal. Arrest the people doing that.
I'm talking about "accountability" at the lower levels and moving up. the problem with Trump and his fellow criminals is the lack of accountability.
Back in the first t administration I was hoping for folks to call in a CPS line to report the issues with children in the dentition areas. I think one person did. Our group even includes a fantastic woman who is 103 years old and she carries the sign she used in the 60’s. It simply says, To be Silent is to be Complicit. We are getting more and more happy honks and thumbs up as people drive by. We MUST continue and grow our numbers and encourage people to get involved!

When we regain control of the House and the Senate, articles of Impeachment should be ready for a House vote and delivery to the Senate for trial - Trump and Vance.
Democratic members of the House should be planning for this now. They should be thinking about who will be their Speaker and therefore who will inherit the job of president. A legal, peaceful and righteous coup. A return to sanity.
So who should be Speaker and president to be? Jeffries is a good guy. But IMO, he has been as mealy mouthed and muted as Schumer. We need a leader who can speak like Crockett, Raskin, Stansbury and AOC. Someone who understands the Constitution. Someone who has fire in his/her belly.
Scan the list of current House Dems. Our next president is on that list. Who should it be? Suggestions?
Even if Democrats retake both the House and Senate, there will *not* be even close to enough votes in the Senate for conviction and removal, so what would be the point? We all know about Trump and Co's criminality. We don't need a Senate trial to expose it. Republicans are not going to flip on him, they're too afraid of him and his remaining fascist supporters. This is not a "Nixon situation."
It is *not* sufficient for Democrats to be "not Trump." Democrats must be *for* something. If Democrats retake both houses of Congress, the focus needs to be on legislating, not a destined-to-fail impeachment trial. The #1 focus of Democrats must be legislation that does what they're trying to do now, reverse the worst of the cuts in the OBBB. Pass that legislation, which actually might garner much more Republican legislative support than an attempt to remove Trump, and dare Trump to veto it.

I am worried that they'll try to stop covid vaccines - again - so I got mine a couple of days ago.
They have already stopped them unless you’re 65+ or have a compromised immune system. For my household this means I can get it but the 2 people living with me can’t so they could bring Covid home to me increasing my risk even though I’m vaccinated. My husband did get it by saying he had cancer even though he’s recovered.
In NC, you can come up with a reason that you need the vaccine. My 35 year old daughter got hers and thanks to our Governor Josh Stein, prescriptions are no longer needed. Our Legislature is a Gerrymandered Republican Legislature, but our wonderful governor is a Democrat. My husband and I are 75, so it was easy.
White lies are acceptable in this case.
Where are you located? There are now a couple of coalitions of states fighting back, and keeping the vaccines available to all over 6 months. Like where I am, in CA!
I'm in NC, but our wonderful Governor Josh Stein ruled that prescriptions aren't needed. I think some rural pharmacies are ignoring how order though. It's great that there are some coalitions, but our Legislature is extremely Gerrymandered, as are our Congressional districts.

Jimmy Kimmel is a kind person. More than anything else, this is what stood out for me. He didn't publicize his message to Charlie Kirk's widow the day of her husband's murder expressing sorrow when it happened, because that was just what a decent person might do. Decent people don't demand praise or recognition for simply doing decent things -- it's just part of who they are. But ABC, Disney and Sinclair's actions compelled him to bring up that act of simple decency, since their behavior tried to pretend it hadn't happened. And It gave him the opportunity to remind everyone what real Christianity actually teaches, not what fundamentalist loonies claim it does.
It was MAGAworld that used Kirk's murder not to mourn, but to gaslight. In their dishonest zeal to turn everything into a political game for the far-right cult, they lied, claiming he made insensitive comments about "Kirk." He did not. FCC Chairman Carr lied about that. Sinclair lied and fulminated about it. The Mouse quivered like a bowl of jello without the bowl and gave in. (They'd already given the bully their lunch money once before -- surprise, he was back for more.)
Those are the facts. That's what happened. The tape is easy to see. Kimmel's comments were about Trump's stunning *disregard* for Kirk, for the suffering and anguish of others, to showcase the narcissism and tiny attention span of our snowflake President. They had nothing to do with Kirk himself. He showed the world what a precious little sociopath Trump really is. Again, those are the facts. Even after this, they will keep trying to lie about what actually happened. We will keep reminding them that they're liars. As many times as it takes. We can do no less.

Um...this isn't about Bernie Sanders. The pointless panoply of names serves no purpose because all those people (and many more) have already been working to combat the current grotesque proposed budget on their own, without being prompted.
It's important the country understand the limits imposed by simple arithmetic, then figure out strategies for playing a bad hand with skill. Back in February, Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) mentioned to his GOP colleagues that his vote to approve a budget was going to be a one-off -- the real battle would come September. So here we are.
Whatever the reason for Dump's refusal to meet with Schumer and Jeffries, it gives us a critical in they haven't thought through. Not to "negotiate" but to walk away. 'You want a budget? Crawl back and start offering concessions.' A budget requires 60 votes, not 53. Anything eventually agreed to can and should be used against the GOP later. 'Were it not for our efforts, x amount of cuts to Medicaid, Medicare (yes, the budget will force a $500 billion reduction in Medicare over 10 years if nothing else intervenes), the cost of Obamacare premiums (God, I hope they use that word, too) skyrockets.'
The GOP will get its way on most things, but not on everything. It's up to Democrats to play the losing hand with skill to extract as much as possible beforehand.
I think they all need to talk NONSTOP to anyone who will have them and make the case to the American public. Pick one clear objection/reason why they are not going along with it (health care cuts will hurt too many Americans). Intimate that the 'art of the deal' President is actually an orange chicken who is afraid to meet with them. Point out again and again and again how his announcement today is basically him saying: 'Give me what I want, Dems, or I start shooting Americans in the head!' They are threatening mass firings of all feds (30% of all fed workers are vets) if there is a shut down. The Dems need to point out how HE is doing this to the American people because he does not give one care about any of us who are not rich. The Repubs have all the power. What happens next is their fault! The Dems need to make this clear.

They urged Congress to act before it’s too late, but not once did they say the words “Obamacare” or “The Affordable Care Act.”

I agree a shutdown is inevitable and I suspect it will be a long one. It will be interesting to see which government employees are deemed essential and, therefore, required to work without pay. I assume ICE agents will be at the top of Trump’s list of “essentials.” They should be able to weather the shutdown if they didn’t squander their signing bonuses, but how long can longtime public servants—like those who process the Social Security checks or keep the airports operating—survive without a paycheck?

Phil, such a thing is indeed happening in Ohio. Check out Blue Ohio, founded by David Pepper. The group is working to fund Democratic candidates in red districts, including, for example, Jim Jordan’s. Of course these candidates have little hope of winning, but the idea is that the simple act of running helps shift ideology back towards the center at least - we all know that running essentially unopposed but fearing being primaried (see Mike Johnson) creates more extreme positions on the far right. There are plenty of grass roots efforts like this happening all over the country if you look for them.
They could, and you would think they would. But do you see anyone doing it other than Bernie and AOC? Of course not, that would ge POPULIST, what would the DNC's donors think about them threatening safe Republucan seats. I am currently in Nebraska having taken Amtrak across PA, OH, IN, IL and IA.
Most of the farmers have not harvested their soybeans because no one wants them with the added tariffs. The farmers are counting on Trump and the MAGAs to bail them out yet again. I have several relatives that are farmers and they EXPECT a government handout on this. I'm sorry, but I hope they don't get bailed out this time because of Trump's idiotic economic policies.
I drive past soybeans fields every day on my way out to see my horses, and you’re right. I’ve seen the wheat and corn get harvested, but not the soy. They haven’t been harvested, and now the leaves are yellowing and the plants are dying. It feels like an apt metaphor.
Soybeans, as with other beans-pinto, great northern etc.- are usually harvested in late Sept. to late Nov. depending where they are grown. They are usually harvested when a certain moisture level is reached. So then the plants yellowing and dying, as you observe, is quite normal as the bean pods must dry before harvesting.

I shared this story: my 34 year old daughter who is a nurse practitioner has decided that she will not live in a country where she cant get vaccines for her future children. My niece, who is a PA, and her husband a Psychologist have left because their child is Trans. Our country is failing young people, and those who can are leaving. Canada welcomes healthcare providers and their families. Those who listened were empathetic and supportive. Keep calling with your story.

Will Lindsey Halligan benefit from the irresponsibility of the Florida Bar to enforce, or even investigate, disciplinary actions should her pursuit of this indictment be deemed a violation of professional responsibility as Stetson Bondi apparently has? Halligan is also apparently admitted to the Florida Bar. I cannot imagine my bar, SC, being so irresponsible. Bars always have jurisdiction over their members.

No Betsy, we knew and we know, not just us, the people that voted against the frog but also many people that voted for and are learning how wrong they were. Im a Physical Therapist and I interact with hundreds of people a month and I can testify that a big change has been coming slowly but steadily and picking up speed. We are not being cooked, the regime is. We need to keep pushing back and even if we have to go through bloody times, we'll overcome 💪

Because so many handlers and caregivers are built into the office of the U.S. presidency, it is not easy to guess where Donald is. But I estimate that he's somewhere in the early middle, perhaps Stage 3 or 4. Despite his handlers' efforts, we are seeing him deteriorate in public.
Unlike Ronald Reagan, whose wife cared obsessively about outward appearances and enforced concealment of her husband's decline, Donald's wife doesn't give a rat's hat about the Trump family's reputation. Her sole interest is in the money she's collecting.
