Thank you for your wonderful historical reporting! I have a question for you on the behavior of the Republican candidates for President and vice President regarding their piling on the false narrative of the Haitian immigrants in Springfield OH. Is it possible that such rhetoric from them could cause them to be charged with hate speech or even domestic terrorism, since they have definitely caused damage to the citizens of that city? I’d be really interested to learn if a normal citizen might face charges for causing this disruption.
It is so disheartening to hear the truth... I can only vote,,,, support my adult children's vote, and avoid talking to Republican supporters. I work social justice ministry on the ground in a Red State.
Robinson sounds like a match made in heaven for the frump machine. Thanks for the good news first! Saving our youth , and American women is definitely a priority for us as Democrats 😘
I'd be very curious whether you believe there's any merit to the electoral college. Sometimes you speak so positively of America and our institutions that it would be easy to believe that you don't find colossal issues in the way that our government is organized. To me, the electoral college system represents something so deeply undemocratic and against the very principals of our founding that I can't imagine much of an argument for it. It's almost enough to make me ashamed to live here. That we can so blatantly prefer a leader like Hillary and still end up with a tyrant like Trump in office says to me that our government is broken.
Everything I've been reading about electoral college shows it's antique. No one article really explains anything but the Founder's experience. Call me crazy, but I believe the population Popular vote should be what "the vote" means, not crazy machinations of political parties!!!!!!!!!
It is poetic justice if Mark Robinson sinks Donald Trump's presidential bid in North Carolina. Robinson began his insubstantial political career as an Internet troll -- a mini-Trump -- telling white supremacist Republicans what they wanted to hear, such as that he was ashamed of the Black race, and making denigrating remarks about the civil rights movement and MLK. It is delicious that he may now provide Trump with reverse coattails, dragging him down in a must-win state. https://jimbuie.substack.com/p/harris-surges-ahead-in-nc
Nancy, I listen using an Android phone. When I pull up the audio controls for the podcast there is a small box with the letters CC inside. By tapping on the box you will turn the closed captioning on or off. I don't know if there is a similar functionality if you are using an iPhone.
Would you consider Joe McCarthy’s example to fit into your idea of Republican leadership trying to strong arm the vote and destroy common democratic principles? I just heard Rachel Maddow’s Ultra, which tells a convincing story
small amounts can be placed with people who have big time backers, matching 200%> i Donate to those.... Praying it's true and they aren't spending on yard signs
Correction: candidates not leadership. The party was controlled by more common sense people but narrowly and McCarthy was certainly for a time on the rise, courting literal Nazis and white supremacists, etc.
Since Reagan, the Republican party has been very clear about wanting to take control of the states. The Democrats have allowed this and I don’t understand why you and I could see it but the political experts in the Democratic Party did nothing to stop it. I’d love to hear something about that from you

Trumpism is a Cancer of the mind. There is a cure! VOTE BLUE!
It's refreshing to hear history in the face of hysteria.
Especially calm history in the face of paranoid hysteria.
Aha, sorry. I just saw the transcript button.
Help! Where is the transcript button?

Great report!! My wife is a professor of Mathematics at Oglethorpe University. I forwarded this to her.
We have a small amount of money to help the Harris-Walz campaign. Please suggest the best place to put it!

A great and informative summary reflecting a very sad state of affairs
Thanks Nancy.. We will look at some of these.
