Why does anyone want to “grow up”? Grown-ups are usually boring. I think of my father’s laughter and the fun he had with his friends of both sexes, my mother’s (grown up) horror and the difference in the size of the attendance at their funerals. You inspired me to remember and compare (or was it old “Crowd Size” himself?) In this context cannot help adding: the morning after my second husband’s wake I woke and for the first time in my life actually asked myself what I wanted to do. 1)Don’t cry; 2) reread all 22 of Helen MacInness’ novels. I didn’t and I did. Can hardly wait to disentangle from the news (?January 7th) and read novels again.
