On weekends we see the Maine weather

When Buddy takes over for Heather.

Her posts are the best

But she needs her rest

Which makes it so nice they’re together.

So true!

Daybreak

Boats nestle together in a harbor

that mirrors the celestial sphere.

Daybreak unwraps layers of sky

on the horizon in hues of gold,

copper and mandarin as the vault

of heaven retains a mystery of grey ripples.

Whenever the world becomes too quiet,

too tranquil, our sun’s rhapsodic embers

stir our souls from darkness into

a radiance of colors that awaken

our senses to a new day, a new life —

fresh experiences and adventures.

Can this be the bridge to freedom?

Will this be a fresh beginning?

We can only dream, only hope

that each daybreak will bring with her

the freedom of democracy, of justice —

of copper skies and wellsprings of promise.

Thank you for your steady vision, voice and words and Happy Birthday, too, Heather Cox Richardson. Buddy Poland, your eyes and camera met the early morning in golds, oranges and grays above the water; the photograph is as the beckoning at the heart of October. It was an amazing vision to encounter on this late Sunday night.
