And while I’m not a lawyer, I have come to understand that treason has technical legal aspects to its definition that unfortunately do not rise to our laypersons’ outrage toward trump & company’s multitude of offenses against the United States of America, whose Constitution he was elected to “preserve, protect and defend.”
Anyone enlisting in the military would be wise to look up the definitions of treason and sedition in the Uniform Code of Military Justice to which they would be subject, including the possible punishment of death. The definitions are plenty scary as is. Broadening them puts people with dissenting opinions on a slippery slope. Trump has done plenty of other things for which he could and should be prosecuted.
Hence the need for what the French call a "garde fou" ; an automatic braking system that prevents the system sliding over the limit. A system that would prevent incumbents, short of impeachment, "sinning by negligence" ; condoning, ignoring organizing or encouraging illegal acts. This current psychologically infantile troup in power must learn one of the basic lessons of becoming an adult; that decisions and acts have consequences for which they are resposible and for which they must pay.

Then it is about time the law did reflect the wishes of the people.

Wow.
