Riad, Aside from Reich, my top pick would be Biden’s chief economic advisor Jared Bernstein.

Professor Robert Reich remains a multi-talented micro & macro economist. Reich is well spoken publicly or from a lectern in front of students & now on Substack. Professor Reich is imbued with common sense always communicating in historical context.

Reminds me of another Professor who lives in Maine.

Bryan, I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of both Reich and HCR.

Oh, so right on Bryan! She’s almost beyond eloquent. Just a note that my parents met in NYC working for an earlier version of what would become The New Deal. When FDR became president, they went to DC working for The Federal Relief Administration- New Deal. My two sisters and I grew up in a family that stressed equality

in all aspects of life. That has buoyed us up through to this flex point, knowing how diligently they each worked to level the playing field of democracy. My father created a non profit group health insurance company as well as helping with creating public housing and jobs here as well as in other countries. My highly intelligent mother was a very active volunteer raising money for settlements in NYC including The 1913 Armory Show 50th anniversary revival in 1963. I remain impressed and incredibly grateful for their work and deeply held belief in Democracy for all. Now I search daily for Heather Cox Richardson’s letters that flow in that same stream. I so wish they were here to hear her speak and read her letters; but probably like many of us, we’re relieved that our parents are not here to be beyond appalled with the rise of t’s fascism.

As a licensed California attorney I had an ethical obligation to do free work. I intervened for over 30 years, pro-bono, on medical billing issues for all sorts of folks.

My mother was the head of HR in a teaching hospital in Northridge CA for her last 10 years working. She started out on the switchboard at Encino Hospital. My Mom's first name was Frances.

I a very familiar with Henry Kaiser's medical plan for workers, female & male that, came as an employment benefit while Liberty Ships which were built in the Richmond CA Harbor area. Henry's cement went into Hoover Dam as well.

The non-profit Kaiser Health Foundation (KHF) still churns out medical policy based on medical research data.
