As ever, thank you, Heather, for all you do. I have a concern I hope you can dispel. It . seems we’re (the country) spending less time these days talking about JD Vance. It’s concerning. Trump has become sort of an easy mark, as Biden was. The more we focus on how unhinged Trump is, the more likely Trump people will view Vance as his successor. And the more likely voting for Trump is voting for Vance. It’s not much different from the wave that pushed Biden out and brought VP Harris in. Vance is the true threat. He’s smart as a fox and quietly waiting in the wings. Please tell me I’m wrong!

I agree with your assessment and furthermore, the more focus on how unhinged Trump is, allows precedence to remove him from office via Article 25. Giving us President JD Vance

ughhhhhhh

The difference between Trump not being pushed out and Biden having to bow out because he was losing support, losing ground with the electorate is just that. As well the party of Trump is what is left after the moderates abdicated. With regard to Biden, the party had to recognize they were going to lose with Biden. Biden was not putting on a good show, fading on the trail. Trump cannot be pushed out at this point. Vance acceding is very scary.

I guess what I’m saying is, if Trumps elected, it will only be a matter of time before he gets shoved out…

You said "It’s not much different from the wave that pushed Biden out and brought VP Harris in" This is not similar to the Biden to Harris situation. It's VERY different. The only similarity is the VP rises when the President is incapacitated or "not well" (the 25th or impeachment or as with Biden, bowing out of the campaign). Biden was not thrown out or pushed out. He was holding on until the last moment possible, stubbornly, and he had lost support, was going down. When he bowed out he was praised well for doing so.

Trump has so much support that he is collecting even more from self serving powers in the party, his minions and Republicans who knee jerk vote Republican. This is a power grabbing operation on the Republican side.

I agree with your point that voting for Trump we are likely going to get Vance.. or I cannot imagine what is going to happen with either one other than civil unrest and chaos.

Civil unrest, chaos, arrests by a Insurrection Act activated military, camps for undesirables, end of democracy. Vance implements Project 2025 while Trump plays golf and poses for thumbs 👍 picture with his oligarch buddies. And an anti vaxxer manages our health... and "Leon" Musk is overseeing technology.

Clever Vance may be; smart? not so sure.

It's wonderful that the military finally have come out and said what Trump is. Unfortunately, it very well could be too little too late.

Let us try not to despair. Let’s stay in the positive while doing all we can to get Kamala and Walz elected. I am hoping that more and more Republicans come out like General Kelly. I have to believe that most of the American people do not to support a facist.

The one possible future is so chilling that I would move to another country If I could afford to do so. I'm reminded of the book: It Can't Happen Here

How could America turn back? How did the marvelous Arab-Muslim empire turn from the most knowledgeable and educated into a 12th Century anachronism? History says that they adopted "confusion" as an acceptable practice which threw them backward and closed off all innovation and growth forever. If we don't understand that history, we may be doomed to repeat it. Trump's strategy of "confusion" derailed President Biden (despite Biden's intelligent grasp of the issues during their debate). We know scant little about what the Arab-Muslim empire was up to and how got the way it is now yet we are on the crux of going that way too!

Mercy!

Seems we have yet another historical first? A presidential candidate being called "dangerous" by his former staff members.

Thanks for the daily lessons reinforcing the aphorism that those who ignore history's lessons are doomed to repeat them.
