I rescued a chihuahua with joint issues. We got those taken care of (she and I), but she went blind from cataracts whose crystals pierced her lenses before the vet could get her into surgery. I restrict her outdoors roving to the walled front yard and back patio, and her tail hardly stops wagging. She's also a voracious eater. I give her carrots and/or pro-biotic cookies for snacks. They keep her regular, and she loves the crunch.
