I am reading HCR'S first book, "How the South won the Civil War", and history replays the same message over and over, using the same tactics in different ways, to reduce the power of the ordinary working person and to take power from the poor, the unfortunate, the differently oriented, the non white, the women, and consolidate it in the hands of the rich. Oligarchy has been beaten back many times, and we have to do it again. Her book must be on the list of those that DeSantis would forbid to be read in schools, and I'm certainly learning more now than I ever did in high school. Go, HCR! Hit them hard, loyal followers!

Frank Mitchell, whether it was her first book or not, I very much agree with your comment. That book and “Democracy Awakening” can give readers invaluable help with understanding what’s happening in our world right now, in real time. Gaining that understanding is difficult! I’m grateful to Prof. Richardson for her insights.

Hey, Frank. I think "How the South won the Civil War" was not her first book, but the last book she wrote before "Democracy Awakening." I forget which one was her first book. Maybe others know.

Morning, MaryPat! Lots of books, for sure. Thanks for providing them! I was only responding to the suggestion that "How the South Won the Civil War" was her first book.

The link you provided seems to show them in order of publication...well done!

I proobably should have said it's the first book of hers I have decided to read. .:) Won't be the last, for sure. All her others required weeks of waiting at the library, this one, nobody was in front of me.
