Indeed. The current preoccupation with influencers just muddles my brain. I used to read two good conservative writers, Jenkin Loyd Jones and James Kilpatrick. That was long ago and far away (like another planet.). Now they are cult nuts, no need to muddle my brain with that…. I admit to being disappointed when somebody I respected (celebrity or next door) blathers admiration for a carnival barker, but not many can move my needle very much. It is a hard won position.
Some learn what carnival barkers spew, sad to say. And think that it’s the Gospel.
Some just tag along witlessly following "celebrities". Never have understood that.
