He is unsavory, yes, but not saying his name aloud or assigning him a fictional name does little to keep the focus on the person and what he's responsible for. I'm pretty stubborn about that. I believe in precision when identifying a threat. I don't call Trump anything other than Trump or Donald. I don't call coronavirus deniers anything but that. For a while early on I used the term rethuglicans but came to my senses and identified them as Republican Thugs. It is a precise identifier.

To restore true Authority to Amerca's leadersip a great deal more coherence between word, action and symbolism is required. The authority of the French regime was significantly undermined by declaring after the last war that the collaboraters, Petainist and other pre-war leading politicians were "responsible but not culpable" for the disaster that hit them in 1940 and for S years therafter. That authority, once lost is very hard to reconstruct. So far in France, it has been resurrected only briefly in the 60's and at no time since.
