Thank you for always keeping us on track of what is happening currently in Washington and for giving hope that there might be some brakes to the power hungry, unqualified cabinet nominations. Here's hopin!!
This is an interesting take on the current situation in the Trump World. It also reminds Americans that they must remain informed and ready to support those who want to sustain democracy.
Problem solved with computer restart, of course...
As I've considered ways of coping with the state of our country, this letter from an American keeps me grounded. Being a former EPA Clean Water Act implementer we're going to have to pay attention to the attempts to undermine the good public policy. Thank you to HCR!
Well, you’ve given us a bit of hope. Regarding the alleged mandate, not really. Regarding leadership, also none. And as for a reversal of support, Matt Gaetz shows that. So as we’re preparing for a celebration of gratitude, there may be a glimpse of hope.
Ultimately, a corrupt (not organized) group will succumb to its own narcissistic impulses. May it happen quickly with minimal pain and disruption. As a 75 year old, I fear I won't see MAGA's demise, but I must (if sanity is to be kept) trust in that "Moral arch of Justice" that MLK Jr and our democratic forebearers believed in.🙏
I want to be able to read Heather's column on my laptop the way I have been doing for a year. But since I've resubscribed I can't access that option. Please assist me so that I can once again read the column on my lap top. I have no interest in using my phone to read or to listen to the column on my palmtop. Why this unsettling change?
Hello Heather! In your interview with Jon Stewart, you call yourself an “institutionalist”. I’d never heard that word used like that before and I’ve been thinking about this world a lot since then. I came across this substack piece by Sarah Kendzior today and in it she calls Merrick Garland an “institutionalist” as well and goes on to deftly explain, with lots of detail and sources, that the institutions were defending are rotten and have been increasingly made so for the last several decades at least. Her work is wholly new to me. It reads a bit like “deep state” crank ramblings, but I also get a sense that much of this is really real. I’m wondering if at some point you could do a deeper dive, maybe a live on some of this. It’s absolutely fascinating (and terrifying) and I would love to know whether there is veracity to this understanding or not.

Now to safeguard the courts.
Suddenly I am getting audio files instead of letters to read...
That's strange.....I still get both.
