I read somewhere long ago (sorry, I can't site a source) that when Nikita Khrushchev was asked by a US journalist why America didn't have a large propaganda organization such as the one the USSR seemed to have, he replied "The US does not need one - you have the press to do that for you".

DT is an opportunistic ideological chameleon who will say anything he needs to get/keep power. His mental illness allows him to, over time, actually believe what he is saying. He is now a fascist, through and through. With DT, at least, there is no veil. As for his advisors, etc., they are all about secrecy. That they are tipping their hand now shows how secure they feel about their prospects. I believe this is a miscalculation on their part, mostly as a product of the echo chamber they live in. The adage 'a drug dealer should never use their own product' holds true here. We on the left need to be aware of this at all times as well.

"We found that the Times and the Post shared significant overlap in their domestic politics coverage, offering little insight into policy. Both emphasized the horse race and campaign palace intrigue, stories that functioned more to entertain readers than to educate them on essential differences between political parties. The main point of contrast we found between the two papers was that, while the Post delved more into topics Democrats generally want to discuss—affirmative action, police reform, LGBTQ rights—the Times tended to focus on subjects important to Republicans—China, immigration, and crime."
