Mike, the fear of “Christian” white males that is being fanned is the fear of replacement: losing their power and status gained solely through their gender, race, heterosexuality and patriarchal religion. Lyndon Johnson put it best: “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

I think you are right Mary, but, is it not the saddest thing in the world to be that person who can only be happy in a situation where he imagines himself "superior".

It must be a really scary, fearful way to live.

Just look at the faces of the republican party and the way they speak. Do any of them actually look happy or contented? This co-opted party appears full of the most miserable, brainwashed people I have ever seen. Have you ever seen a really happy Nazi? I do not believe that that dominance over others makes one happy, it makes them paranoid that someone will do the same to them.

Adding to your observation, I maintained that trump's cabinet was physically the ugliest people I had ever seen grouped together...because they were ugly on the inside, bent on deconstructing good and lining their pockets. The whole bunch of them was about power and materialism and yes, it reflected on their faces--the complete opposite of the spiritual ecstasy you see on the faces of smiling yogis....

It is a fearful way to live and politicians use that fear by promising that only they can keep the hordes under the heel of “civilization” by turning back the clock and making A******G****again.
