How can Robert E Lee be #1? HIs statue in Richmond was removed and the one in Charlottesville melted down. It seems strange the the Confederacy would be "glorified" here.
It was only a few weeks ago the Trump made insane comments about Gettysburg. Insurectionists were flying the Confederate flag during Jan 6.
#2....really?....no explanation should be needed on a site like this one
History and Horses...okay......General Sheridans "Winchester", wounded several times and present for the Confederate surrender at Appomattox in 1865....a horse that served to protect the Union and democracy.
Dr. Richardson is a historian, and what she wrote is history. Yes, Trump is also history, but he doesn't need to be in everything. In November, let's make him history as a failure.
REALLY? It was the traders' statue that was taken down for good reason. Not the horse. Did you really miss that point ? Susan Y is absolutely right, we do not deserve them.
One of my favorite T-shirts has a picture of Heather Heyer ,1965-2017 on it. These statues put up long after the civil war ended.........kept alive a dark, immoral and subversive message........I just cannot "candycoat" that and call it history
Are you saying......leave the horse there and just melt down Robert E Lee?
I recently gave my 25 year old gym trainer a lovely illustrated copy of Black Beauty. She's a competitor in barrel racing , and loves horses, but confessed she wasn't "a reader. I survived my childhood in the 50's by reading and keeping out from under my mother's temper. I loved Black Beauty, I believe any horse is one of God's masterpieces. Thanks for sharing this research. I loved thinking about all these mentioned historical, amazing, lovely animals.
"A Horse is a Horse, of course, of course!......"
Horses - we don't deserve them. Thanks Heather.

We're talking horses here. I'm sure Traveller would have served U.S. Grant just as well. He was a good horse.

Excellent diversion for today.
Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
Amazing and how fun to listen to their stories.

Hoping everyone has treated themselves to an excellent read by Geraldine Brooks called HORSE.

I'm not receiving Heather's letters. My subscription runs until 2025. Just send me her letters.
