If we need more workers there are teeming masses from other parts of the world willing to come here. Reluctant white women do not need to be the mothers of all.

Fertility is falling all over the world. This is not localized. The Wall Street Journal May 13, 2024 "Suddenly There Aren’t Enough Babies. The Whole World Is Alarmed." Sorry I only get WSJ through a news source, so I can't break the paywall.
I did see that, but it seems that if we have jobs and young people fleeing failed states in Venezuela, Haiti, Somalia and other parts of the world want to come here and work it may be a temporary solution for this country. Ultimately, fewer people feels like a good thing with the impending climate crisis. The mismatch of old and young and our dependance on a consumer economy will need to end eventually.
Dependence on a consumer economy will need to end, yes. But if the population is declining in other countries as well as the US, one can expect tightened emigration policies from those countries, along with more compensation there because the demand is high. The bottom line is that this is not a question of population shift, but of population reduction everywhere. There might be a temporary surge--we are likely in its beginning now--but it is not a solution, it is a palliative treatment.
