I wish more people appreciated the fact that America was founded on the principle that "self rule" was preferable to "being ruled" (as in "a King ruling over us all"). Those who seek to eliminate the idea of equality under the law... to eliminate the right of everyone (no matter their economic or social status) to vote... to enforce the untrue idea that America was founded as a "Christian nation"... have NEVER been comfortable with "self rule". They seek to live in a nation where "I rule and everyone else obeys me". They seek to be King (or "a king in a limited community of kings"). This is so fundamentally against what the Founding Fathers created... against what the Revolutionary War in which many died to become free of the King of England... against what even more died during WWII to defend "self rule"... that I am shocked and saddened to see them treated as "Americans" by a news industry that has lost its way ("lost the plot" of what America is). How will we have an election in which those who vote understand the stakes, when the vast majority of the supposedly real news organizations are not reporting this truth... that "un-Americans are running against Americans"... that those seeking to rule us rather than represent us are challenging Joe Biden and the Democrats? I believe that up in Heaven, Walter Cronkite (who was a WWII reporter) is crying as he watches the monumental failure by America's journalists to live up to the reason their profession is the only one protected by the Constitution. Freedom of the Press exists not so that the Trump circus can be reported without someone forcing such coverage to stop. It exists so WHAT TRUMP and the MAGA GOP WANT TO DO can be reported without MAGA attempting to stop it. In Putin's Russia, journalists go to jail. If Trump wins, I predict that will happen here too. I wish America's journalists realized they will be in trouble if democracy dies.

They are already “in jail”. If they could report like they did before big money took over the family founded presses they would be fired.
