MAGA/White Christian Nationalism is not Christian, and it is not American. It is a group of people who claim to be Christian, but they do not follow the teachings of Jesus. They are not American, because they have no regard for democracy and the constitution. They have taken over our government.

And, the goal is to create a national religion like the several countries (mostly Muslim) with national religions. Beyond that to hopefully require our elected leaders to be members of this nation religion

thank you, dr richardson, for this informative, yet nauseating, analysis. the nauseating part is how putin has had his grimey little fingers firmly around the throats of aspiring/envious authoritarians like trump. i always learn so much and am tremendously appreciative of the clear and concise way you overlay history with current events. sounds like you may have a bit of a cold… get well soon. you are my lifeline to sanity.

I think the phrase, "Things take time", works here. Wether it is the communists or the oligarchs, or the splinter terrorist groups that come and go, it's a waiting game. Who can hold out the longest. China, Russia, N. Korea, certain African countries; who will it be. You are indeed a calm view of history repeating itself. We are still barbarians. Thank you so much for educating those who want to learn.

I spent 30 years as an officer in the US Army. Most of that time was spent preparing to fight the Russians or fighting their proxies. We knew how broken the communist system was and the degree to which people in Eastern Europe yearned for freedom from Russian tyranny. We watched as Russian tanks attempted to seize Kiev and vailiant Ukrainians ready to die for freedom fought the barbaric invasion by the war criminal, Putin. Now, after 80 years of leading the free world we have joined the evil despot and turned our backs on our allies and the courageous Ukrainians. Why? His past actions make it obvious Putin would not observe any treaty longer than it takes to reconstitute his badly beaten up Army. Why has Trump always beens so subservient to the bloody dictator?

I think we have to come to terms with the reality that we are now led by a Russian asset. While Mueller failed to uncover a mutually signed cooperation agreement between the Trump campaign and Putin, he described a deep network of connections between the campaign and Russian operatives. Trump was not exonerated, as he claims. Our Trump-driven about face on support for Ukraine nails the case. Russian media has correctly noted that our governments policies and world viw are now perfectly aligned with Russia's

TIME;

Mitch McConnell decisively used up time to stack the supreme Court, among many other actions that were designed to stall major legislation. All without integrity or historically accepted accordance with the constitution or decorum.

Donald Trump had always practiced these same tactics taught to him by a crooked maligned Lawyer. I don't recall this lawyers name.

♾️My point being We're out of time. If we don't act across the board with everything we can with the same unified actions as maga the consequences will be even more dire. YES this means even in the streets like Civil Rights and Anti War coalitions.🌍😑♾️

If not Mitch McConnell will continue to be lauded as a master statesman and hero as we are marched into Autocracy.

This will not blow over with time.♾️

Thank you, Heather, for your efforts and passion. However, I have been closely following the collapsing climate, which, according the EU's C3S, is heating globally at the rate of 0.2 degC annually on what appears to be a constant trajectory, taking the Global Average Surface Temp. (GAST) to 2 degC by 2027, 3 degC by 2032, and another 1 degC EVERY FIVE YEARS, so the extinction level 6 degC by 2047, 22 yrs. from now. I wonder if the billionaire worldwide coup is a last ditch effort to grab all the wealth they can before taking to their subterranian refuges?

Luck maybe? For myself I've got to try for a solution. But it sure looks like we collectively failed our IQ test. .. life is based on cooperation largely, not competition. Which is a much less needed ubiquitous pursuit. Sad

Absolute bulls eye on post-war geopolitical history. Americans will come to rue the decisions made by this (can’t bring myself to call it an Administration) in the not-too-distant future.

When asked why he robbed banks, Willy Sutton is reported to have said “because that’s where the money is.” The US is by far the biggest bank in history. Guess you have to give this cabal some credit for the sheer audacity of the theft they are plotting.

How do we cauterize these people like Navarro? If Trump purposely tanked the economy, what kind of national security threat is he that warrants being branded a traitor? And then treated as such.

Thank you Heather for weaving history into our current events, you are so good at that. I used to think history was fairly irrelevant to everyday life...was I ever wrong.

My dad grew up in the former Jugoslavia in the 1940's and was required to learn Russian in grade school. It was everyone's least favorite subject. The only sentence he now remembers translates to "I can't help a friend in trouble."

Look up the agreement to protect Ukraine if you wish to be reminded of the unbelievable. In 1994 Britain, the United States and the Russian Federation pledged security assurances to Ukraine. It is referred to as the Budapest Memorandum. And here we are today, Trump telling us Ukraine started this war. As usual for Trump he has no knowledge of history……worse he discounts history
