Their "thirst for raw power" today, KSC, recaps Heather on post-Civil War Confederates.

They denigrated people of color then as non-human, not deserving of the public services key to democracy then, key to democracy today.

And they vaulted themselves as the top, the best, the only true humans -- back then as white nationalist MAGA does today.

But I say (elsewhere here today) this perversion comes of schools too long neglecting the things which let us see human complications better, wider. Those who've crushed us most, those who've rid schools of key resources, are in fact so simple-minded in their racism and misogyny as indeed not to be much of humans at all, but zombies, living dead, all poisoned instead by the mechanical, dead teaching which testing steroids.

I agree with that. I was lucky enough to grow up with good schools - that taught languages, art, music and the other humanities. The history class was probably pretty whitewashed as it was the 60s and I grew up in a lily-white suburb, but the humanities component was strong - and I still remember those classes over 50 years later.
