It’s like a terrifying nightmare is finally acknowledged. Our courts have dealt with millions of trials of much less criminal cases. Why not this one? If there is a shred of justice in our country, please show us
Pat, it's been 15 months because trump's co-conspirators have refused to testify. They have refused to turn over documents. They have hidden behind executive privilege. They have sued in court to prevent the release of evidence. They have pled the 5th hundreds of times. The Watergate break-in happened in June 1972. Nixon resigned in August 1974. And they had tape recordings of Nixon admitting his crimes. Prosecuting a president, even one as obviously corrupt and criminal as Trump, takes time.
Your reminder is comforting, but we’re 2 years from possibly dealing with this again and technology has advanced/changed so much since 1972 …. Jan 6th was very much abetted by technology. May the same technology save us from the unimaginable
The pace has nothing to do with technology. It has to do with the rule of law, building a strong case, and feeling confident of winning conviction in court. We are pretty sure Trump (and Eastman, and Meadows, and Cruz, and...) are guilty. That's not nearly enough for a prosecutor to take it to trial. You know what would be worse than not prosecuting Trump and his cronies? Prosecuting them, and seeing them declared "Not Guilty".
True enough! But mid terms are coming and lordy if the numbers change to award a majority to today's Republican Party (of which I was once a member of) ....
Yes, the Congressional committee will be shut down as soon as Republicans take the House in the coming election. McCarthy and his buddies promise to start their own investigations - probably delving into pedophile pizza parlors and Jewish Space Lasers.
