I love hearing the Letters in your voice. I like that this version doesn't have all the footnote sources at the end. However, by the time this is posted I've already listened on Substack, as your Letter is usually the first news I consume in when I wake up. Maybe I should learn to wait for this version?
Initially I felt the same as you are describing. In the few weeks since first this format became available, I’ve changed up my game plan. I read the letter when I first wake up. When the email comes later in the day with the recording of HCR reading it, I listen. It is more time committed to these topics, but I find I understand better with this two pronged approach.
Senator Joseph McCarthy must surly be having multiple coronaries in his grave [much as I do not like him, looking back at his deeds] - if he is hearing downunder the kind of things Rumpus tosses out of his mouth. Heresies. How is that not treason? Government across the board does not understand Putin is most certainly a threat? How come back then it was hounded out with zeal - regardless of the overstep, and now it is precisely the opposite. A president OR a former president is allowed to steal top security docs with no penalty whatsoever, not even a swatted wrist, and into the bargain, invites Putin to massacre not only an ally America has spent billions of dollars defending/helping - and invites Putin as well to just attack and do "whatever he wants" to European allies. Yet this same cretin cannot be stopped from running for president! And likely might win if Democrats do not bear down. I assure you that if Rumpus was poor, he would never be able to get away with this - all that he has done to desecrate American institutions and respect for Americans worldwide has fallen dramatically since he came to power. I very much appreciate what you do HCR. May your health and your purpose hold. I am not American [rather Canadian], but my son is American and I spent almost a decade living there. We in Canada will be very much adversely affected is Rumpus were to win, and so would the entire world. Please do not let it happen. For one thing, mental health would deteriorate immediately upon hearing the unbearable news.

I'm not sure it says anything. I'll listen. My sound guy is a professor at Berklee and he wrote a piece that covered all major forms of American music in 18 seconds. We were all a bit overwhelmed, and asked him to trim it considerably. I think the end remains the end of the piece, which is... synthesizers? Something very modern, in any case. But I don't think there are any words....

I love the audio version. I always mean to read the letters but it seems that I do better with the short listen instead.
Can someone tell me what the out-music is saying as it trails off? Then it won't bug me so much.

At the very end, there seem to be a couple of words sung by harmonizing male voices. (I'm thrilled that you answered, of course!) Thanks!
