You're very welcome, Lynell. It's such an interesting back story for what became such a troublesome memo. P.S. For anyone who hasn't listened to it, the entire "Bagman" podcast by Rachel Maddow is very well done. It's about the criminal and sleazy behavior of Nixon's Vice President, Spiro Agnew, accepting bribes which he ordered to be delivered to him at the White House.

I don't get to watch Rachel's show often (I don't have cable!) but did hear about the Bagman podcast a while ago. Thanks for reminding me. I will try to find it now.

Thanks for the 2 links. I recall seeing them back in 2019. And still it was never challenged. Makes you wonder if those in power really have the country's best interest at heart. What a sleazy business D.C. is.

The Bagman podcast is great as well as the book.

Bill Barr was still the corrupt Attorney General in 2019. We know he never cared about what was right or true. He was just there to keep the Republicans in power by batting down and lying about all the illegal and dangerous behavior they excelled in under TFG. And as we've seen for so long, most Democrats were bringing a Twinkie to a gun fight. I say this while still very much appreciating the general decency and desire to help the American people, that has usually been the main goal of the Democratic Party as a whole. Thank goodness for wonderful Democratic politicians who have fought for decades to help women, children, workers, the elderly, veterans and America AS A WHOLE to improve as an entire society...while rich, entitled Republicans have conspired for decades to keep "the masses" less educated, less healthy, less powerful and fighting just to exist. Of course, this is because wealthy Republicans, no matter how ignorant, racist, misogynist, homophobic, anti-semitic and incredibly dishonest they are, have a delusion of superiority and think they should run the country without giving the other 99% of the population any power or say in their own lives. Democratic politicians need to ditch the Twinkies and start "politely" but aggressively calling out the LIES, DISHONESTY and RACE TOWARDS A DICTATORSHIP that has become the rotten, dead, remaining dry husk of the former somewhat decent Republican party before Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Newt Gingrich and the current crop of insurrectionists took over. I am of the opinion based on decades of observation, that most of America wants what Democrats try to provide, even if most conservative voters are too ill-informed or married to a single cause, to understand where their Medicare and Social Security and other safety nets come from or what would happen to America if we turned into a nationalist, isolationist country. So Democratic politicians, let your inner lion start roaring now on behalf of Democracy and the majority of Americans who value what our founding fathers created for us...A Republic, IF WE CAN KEEP IT.
