Maybe your most powerful history lesson yet. Congratulations, Heather! You've managed to pack a lifetime of wisdom into those 13 minutes. Keep up your great work!

Those still believing in the pathetically shopworn image of the individualistic Western cowboy might be interested to know that it was a Western state (Wyoming) that first granted American women the right to vote. The West (in both Canada and the U.S.) was also where radical unions like the International Workers of the World (Wobblies) rose up to fight the gross abuses of absentee owner capitalism prevalent in mines and forests. The Wobblies were particularly big in U.S. states like Washington and Canadian provinces like British Columbia. Unionism was more radical in places like Washington and B.C., where owners typically were not present on the site of their businesses, than in Eastern states and provinces where owners were there alongside their workers and problems could, at least on occasion, be resolved between the parties.

Thank you Heather.

I appreciate your posts, particularly this one because it fuels my understanding, as opposed to riling me up.

Yes, there is much to be upset and angry about. We witness actions and expressions of anger and rage every day. Your thoughtful and considered voice is necessary to help others to keep their cool and use their talents to fight effectively against MAGA's 2025 plot to turn America to a fascist state.
