I don't understand the legal authority these two judges had to lock up 8 or 9 people in prison for 100 years. Are there any lawyers challenging these verdicts. Are these people going to appeal?

The book being discussed was Billionaire Backlash : The Age of Corporate Scandal and How It Could Save Democracy by Pepper Culpepper and Taeku Lee. Pepper discussed how people are starting to turn against Oligarchs and I was relieved to hear it.
Then, I was watching a discussion on DW of how the new Left Party in Germany is so against Oligarchs that they want to get rid of billionaires by redistributing their wealth. Of course, if you tax someone at 75% who has 100 billion, you are still not going to stop them from being a billionaire. The party is attracting a lot of young women needless to say.
