Great report. I say again, VOTE!!!

Know that Biden will protect the Democracy, Trumpster, the convicted criminal, will not.

I hope everyone cancels the NYT. I noticed quite some time ago that rather than learning from the disastrous false equivalency reporting of the 2016 election, that I believe was largely responsible for the result, they seemed to be getting worse. So I could not continue to support them, despite some columnists I like very much.

The "Times" still makes good kindling.

I benefits them if we fall into chaos. They would have so much to report on. I cannot help but think about this everytime I see a Biden headline

Yup. It’s as if they sense the election wasn’t close, so to make so, inventory a crisis about President Bidens age. It’s less about real news. It’s about creating uncertainty, because all the anxiety over it will sell more papers.

You do realize that it is not Biden’s “age” as much as his inability to be honest about his health. We all age differently. Sone get cancer and die younger and some get chronic problems that decline slowly at first and then this may speed up with age, stress and other illnesses. There are sone very spry and active 90 year olds. It is not just age

Sure. What we can expect is more fascism and fear, and a media establishment that never sees it coming. Expect the unexpected. Expect more fear tactics, more will be coming. Help others by not falling for the next one. Dr Snyder’s post today explains it very clearly.

Isn’t there someone who can speak directly to the NYT? They are not posting those who support Joe Biden, nor do they focus on Trump’s ineptitude and criminality. Those are the attributes to be aware of not supported.

It is because of their fear of another Trump presidency that they are challenging Biden’s fitness. Why is everyone blaming the NYT’s when they are just making honest observations?? I have never seen the Democrats pick in the news so much. We are being just as bad as the republicans if we can’t honestly look at our candidates.

The fourth guardrail--media is complicit too in misinformation and ignoring reality

The excessive focus on Biden's "aging mind" is driving me crazy when there is dead silence about the explosion of deficits that characterize Trump's mind. Who cares if he speaks more vigorously if everything that comes out of him is twisted or wrong. My hypothesis is that we've lived so long with his general disgustingness that it is no longer news, and all the news organizations want to cover is news. In a way they face the same challenges that Biden did in the debate. For Biden--I can only imagine how hard it was to respond to every flood of Trump falsehoods. For the Times--where do you even begin to cover the general lyingness of the guy, beyond covering his legal messes. Clearly, they need to get their act together.

Where are the alarm bells? We are in apocalyptic danger. The mass majority of Americans are taking care of their families, worrying about the daily struggles of their personal lives, and making sure their children are getting what they need. As the average German citizen did when their country was very slowly and unrecognizably at first, and then unstoppably bursting into fascism, Americans are operating in what they think is a normal world. It is not normal. If we do not wake up, the youth of today, as well as all of us, will be trapped in an unrecognizable nightmare of living in a fascist country—a country in which we will lose most of our freedoms to chose how we live, what we can say, what we can learn, who we can love, what our children can learn, where we can travel, and so on. And our fascist leader will be a corrupt, mentally ill, unprincipled, narcissistic, immoral, and uncaring man.

The mass majority of citizens have no idea what terrors lie ahead for themselves, their children, their families, and their friends.

How do we wake them up before it’s too late?

Biden could nip this in the bud--if he were willing to use his powers to the max. Among other things, he needs to declare the Heritage Foundation a terrorist organization, arrest and imprison its leaders, and seize its assets. He must also block all transfers of money from Hungary into the U.S., break off diplomatic relations with Hungary, and deport any Hungarian agents still in the U.S. Have he and his advisors no sense of self-preservation? The German government (Weimar) took the Beer Hall Putsch far too lightly. We must not make the same mistake again. January 6 was America's Beer Hall Putsch.

President Biden must stay steady and strong. I have lots of Republican friends who are ready to vote for President Biden to stop Trump in his tracks. That's how important it is to these lifelong Republicans.

It was George as mouthpiece of corporate media's board asking the questions to persuade President Biden to call off his campaign. The righteous wing is getting desperate.

Indeed they are attempting to hound him out! It's like the Republicans are pulling a Nancy Kerrigan attack on our winningest candidate!

It won't work!

Best,

No, it was the same theme over and over: Are you too feeble to serve another term? Will you submit to a neurological examination and agree to release the results? Over and over along those lines? It was incredibly offensive.

President Biden looked him in the face and said it was the media wanting him to withdraw.

He restated his intention to stay in the race and win it!

No, the entire exercise was to get President Biden to consider withdrawing from the race. No way he would ever do that. He's no quitter!

Trump says he knows nothing about Project 2025. He also said he would build the wall and have Mexico pay for it. After thousands of lies, are we expected to think he's starting to tell the truth now?

Project 2025 "toxic" to voters? I should hope so! We are really in a bad way if a plan to make the U.S. in effect a member of the Putin-Orban axis isn't toxic to most. My concern is that such a demented project could even have been seriously broached in the first place. I'm sure no one would have dared raise the topic during the Roosevelt years, or during the Kennedy years, or even during the Clinton or Obama years.

What this demented project exposes are the deep divisions in the country, glaring lack of education, and serious economic inequalities, as well as the corruption of the media. Throwing more money into the defense budget certainly won't help. The project is being openly discussed despite annual defense expenditures of nearly $900B. Now the consequences of decades of misguided spending priorities are coming home to roost. A domestic Marshall Plan is sorely needed to reduce economic inequalities, improve education and health care for all, and repair the nation's failing infrastructure. The original Marshall Plan kept Communism out of Europe; a new domestic one might just be able to keep fascism out of America. The threat is real.

Once upon a time, long ago in a court in England, a woman sued her husband accusing him of performing unnatural sex acts.

The judge dismissed the case saying that he could not have performed unnatural sex because unnatural sex acts are those that cannot be performed- they are unnatural.

So I am thinking : what official acts are illegal and what illegal acts are official?

This is going to be interesting.

Just watching Face the Nation and they have a Republican apologist on dismissing Project 2025 as simply a document that the Heritage Foundation puts out every 4 years. There was very little pushback against that assertion, except to say that some people close to Trump are affiliated with it. Meanwhile, the beat goes on that Biden is unfit, without a clear eyed assessment of the firehose of lies and insanity. Interestingly, Graham was on and suggested both candidates should submit to a neurological test (not cognitive function) which indicates they suspect as we do in this house, that Biden has a Parkinson's-like issue. It would not alter my vote, as his cognitive function is likely fine. That said, I'd like him to be open and honest and to create a political advanced directive to alleviate the 'what if' fears.

I'm beyond flummoxed by why the media is so fervently supporting Trump through their lopsided coverage. Our choice here is clear and the media will be an early target of a second Trump term. All they need to do is provide even-handed coverage.
