The delegates were legally required to cast their votes for him at the convention, so if he kept running, he would become the official nominee no matter what anyone else thought, said, urged, or cajoled. That he chose to retire is a testament to him accepting the realities of age and mental sharpness. Unlike your guy, who believes his gold toilet is the throne of an emperor.
