Thanks for your letter today! It’s obvious that reform of the Supreme Court is overdue, but the reasons why must be understood clearly. The immunity for all and any criminal acts that are “official” (?) would open the gates of hell by allowing a president, let’s say, Trump, to suspend the Constitution and simply declare the U.S. to be a (White) Christian Nationalist State. How did this even become possible?

The court-packing that republicans are already accusing President Biden of attempting has already been achieved by a cabal of Leonard Leo, the Federalist Society, and a coterie of enabling billionaires and right wing media outlets. The two most problematic justices, Thomas and Alito, were lavished with outlandish vacations, free travel and housing and so on ad-nauseum.

Apparently this kind of treatment was enabled, if it is true that Justice Thomas commented that his salary was not very good for someone on the high court.

for a person who is unbelievably lucky and came extremely close to being shot to death, trump seems oddly unaffected by it. Weird.

what if we required that the Supreme Court be represented by an equal amount of Republicans and Democrats....and then require them to argue a tie until they came to a decision?

With no food or water until they are done ✔️. I’m in Jennifer🤪🤪!

But if that approach is good for the Supreme Court let’s also apply it to Congress where negotiations should occur when creating laws.

Careful what you wish for as Harry Reid understood after employing the nuclear option. He probably said, “well it seemed like a good idea at the time.” Oops, duh,

No politics should be involved in ANY FORM with the judicial system. The law is all that should control them.

ELD- I agree, but the problem is there will always be people that don’t agree with the opinion and claim politics.

You read Biden’s speeches much better than he does! Maybe ask Dr Jill for a job.

Also as an historian please state your specific examples of “gutting Civil Rights”.

Thank you, I will sit down and wait for your answer.

My intuition keeps telling me that DJT will self destruct. And that now is the time to push for change with the Supreme Court. I wish that a lawyer or an activist group would expose Ginnie, the wife of Clarence Thomas who has been collecting $$ hand over fist for years. Much with the help of Harlan Crowe. Who knows.. maybe Kamala will be the one to lobby successfully for that change. The exposure needs to reach the broader public...

Why does Trump keep saying either "he doesn't need the votes" or in speaking to a group of Christians "that they will only need to vote once"? Rachel Maddow brought up the subject that Electors (who are election deniers) are in place in swing states ... what are your thoughts about what's going on? !!!!! What can be done at the local level to prevent local election officials from creating chaos by not certifying the election?

He wasn't just saying he wanted Christian votes, he said, "You only have to vote once, then we have it fixed so you won't have to vote again." That applies to EVERYONE.
