I am in Turkey right now, handling some personal stuff (I was born and raised here). I get to have lots of lunches and dinners with friends who all seem to be concerned with President Biden's age. They are not sure if he can handle the pressures of governance as an old man and may run the country down! As a proud naturalized citizen of USA for 26 years I give some civic lessons, proudly might I add. Turkey is run by a parliamentary system that has been thwarted into a fake American presidential system by a religious dictator posing as a democratic man! Don't get me started there! It's all about sound bites and the bad press poor President Biden is getting. Seriously, he is the best president we had in a very long time, and the press in the United states and around the world is slamming him down! He can't win for nothing, nobody is looking at his heart, how hard he tries and how the effing republicans keep finding ways cancel out all these wonderful legislations that could help so many. We need to sell these programs to the public better and get the press on our side and how can that be done? I am in Istanbul contemplating how to sell President Biden's thoughts and actions to the Turks and some foreigners living here. Slowly and calmly I've been getting through as I break bread with them and it's really hard to break that Anti-American sentiment. Why can't we have more press on our side that is honest and lays the facts instead of some editorialized version of the truth?
Shenny. Your work on President Biden's behalf is terrific. I am sending you Heather's Letter from the other day where she highlights most of the President's accomplishments so far. Hopefully, it will give you more ammunition as you continue to "break bread." Her comments about Biden start about a third of the way down. Thank you!
Thank you. I have it pasted on my phone’s notes for quick references. Thank you for pointing it out. I almost cried when I read it, I am 7 hours ahead of the east coast and I have to wait well into the morning to get my copy of the letter. I was screaming yes, yes, yes yes yes in our apartment. I can’t remember too many details anymore, I am almost 65, materials like that are fabulous to arm myself with. Much love to all of you, nice to be in the sea of sanity.
As someone who has lived in both countries your voice is invaluable….and being able to converse while “breaking bread” is such a positive action! Thank you for spreading the word and for the faith you have had in your adopted country.
“I wrote yesterday, the Inflation Reduction Act is a big deal. If it passes, it will only be the latest “big deal” in a long line of successes for Joe Biden. A reader sent a link to a website titled, What Biden Has Done? The site is no longer being updated, but it provides a wealth of information. I urge you to spend ten minutes reviewing Biden’s accomplishments. I have highlighted a few:
Passed the largest infrastructure bill in a generation.
Passed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
Ended the war in Afghanistan.
Passed the first gun safety legislation in a generation.
Banned ghost guns.
Invested $3 billion in mental health and substance abuse prevention
Rejoined the Paris Climate Accords.
Rejoined the World Health Organization.
Appointed 42 federal district court judges—the most in 40 years (during first year).”
Thanks for this Vivian. I copied it and will carry it with me at all times. I'm so sick of Biden Bashing. I wish I had it the other night when I walked out on 2 old friends when they started Biden Bashing and laughing at me as if I'm some stupid idiot. Another 2 crossed off my friend list.
Maybe we could print his accomplishments on business cards or leaflets to hand out and use for personal reference. I find it so emotionally challenging to be calm and clear when dealing with a**hole comments, regardless the many tools in my toolbox.
Shenny, I’ve been to Istanbul and loved it. Thank you for giving the Turks American civics lessons! When you’re done there, could you do the same here? 😚 as a senior citizen myownself, let’s quit with the doddering president bit. With his fellow dems, He’s getting stuff done already.
Sennur / Shenny -- thank you for what you wrote. You can add to your education of your friends that President Joe Biden has been governing since 1972 -- 50 years this year! In 1972 he was elected to the Senate. He is steadier and steadier as he goes on, seems to have a very clear vision of what needs to be done, making a few big mistakes along the way but recognizing them at some point. And nothing seems to rattle him, least of all the ridiculous Press. (What's with them!! Print and TV.) The Press has lost their vision. They've lost the likes of Woodward and Bernstein. With only a handful of exceptions. But President Biden is who we have and need at this moment in time. At least, in my opinion.
After reading all you proud people from Minnesota, I just want to say I’m a proud Delawarean. I’ve voted for Joe Biden since his first senate run in 1972. I’m so old I was at the University of Delaware with him in the 60’s. I didn’t want him to run for president in 2020, but came to realize he was probably the only Democratic candidate who could beat tfg and return our government to some semblance of normalcy. I think he’s doing a remarkable job and it infuriates me that he’s getting so little credit. He’s a good man - is that the problem?
Not a problem at all for the 80+ million of us that voted for him, Betsy. You were spot on in your realization about him being the only candidate who could... And if the media would do their job, they would see it, too.

You are a hero for me. May the sea of sanity ripple to infinity
You are a shero, Sennur!
Yes, Lynell! Many thanks, Shenny!

Glory be to you. Even some Dems are hard to fathom. Time to coalesce or die divided. How many times have we been warned…

No. Is a solution. Just a problem if one is a Republican.
Examine who is paying the writers? Character counts, truth counts...love for democracy counts and it is costly.
Sometimes it requires standing alone :sometimes it requires taking hits even from family and friends.....
