We agree. Of course we can have opposite discourse. I disagree with Kirschner. The Attorney General is doing his job.

Christine we really have no idea what Garland is doing at this point. I don't feel it's nothing. I do feel he will do whatever he can. It may not be what we want when all is said and done, but I know it will be as far as he can go with what he has. This will be his biggest case yet.

Agree. And then perhaps move on to Supreme Court when expanded. I am keeping visión strong for Democracy and insistent that our voices say the strong, proactive assertions and affirmations that we believe in and preserve.

Salud, my wise friend. 🗽

I saw yesterday there was a suggestion to add 4 more SCOTUS to the bench, but it was more for show of the disgust of other Democrat Senators . Not anticipated to go anywhere.

I would love to see that but honestly, we must flip Senate seats to get a majority rule first. If we are successful, then people like Manchenema and Cuellar cancel out. Dems do that and we will end the filibuster, pass the Women’s Health Act, pass the John lewis Act, the ERA, and bring sanity back

Marlene, it won't happen. It's just a pipe dream from a handful of Democrats that know our hands are tied. The SCOTUS we have will be what will prevail certainly for our lifetimes.

I wish we could change the layout of the Senate. I've stopped looking at Bidens polls. I am watching the projection for the House. Nate Silver is a good source. If we lose the House as expected, the next General election won't matter or possibly happen.

We are living in the most unsettled times and there is not a clear path to bring back sanity.

Everything you mentioned would make this Country a better place for all.

I refuse to go there, Linda. I don’t listen to Nate Silver because he's been wrong before. I don’t listen to predictions or look at polls, mainly because I want to keep some sanity that I have left. In the words of my mother who was a Holocaust victim “Where was God when 6 million died?”. I simply cannot give in or give up. I do it for both of my parents, and for my grandparents who perished at the hands of the Nazis.

The AG is doing his job? How do you figure?

The question is…. How do you figure that he’s not???

Am I to understand that our fondest hope at this historical moment is that Garland's ponderous inactivity is more apparent than real?

And what if it is exactly what it appears to be?

What then?

Jim, one minor detail is that the January 6th Committee has not turned over the findings for his consideration to proceed as yet. These investigations are on going.

Why does the DOJ need the Jan 6th Committee's findings? Copying somebody else's homework is not the hallmark of a great student.

Jim, that is the reason for the January 6th Committee. They are simply there to fact find as a non partisan Committee. They have zero authority to prosecute.

I'm aware of that. But let's pretend for a moment that there was no January 6th Committee, or that the GOP went along with it only to stock it with saboteurs and grandstanders playing to Fox News. What then?

Would there have been any findings to share with the DOJ? The idea that DOJ is cribbing from a committee that might well not have happened does not inspire confidence.

Let's go back one more step Jim. Had it not been for Nancy Pelosi to procure this out in the open Committee , the Proud Boys and all the ancillary groups and bad players would have by now regrouped and have done far more damage than they did January 6th. It would have gone unchecked.

Am I sure the head of the fish will be appropriately charge? Hell no. I can only hope this will all play out to re-secure Democracy and move forward. Fingers crossed.

There are far too many close-run things that could have gone differently for us to conclude that the system worked. There are far too many unknowns that could still play out the wrong way to conclude that the system ultimately will work.
