A most excellent letter tonight! The news today on the issue of reproductive rights includes several horrific examples of where the reversal of Roe v Wade leaves us. Not content with this reversal, Republican legislators across the country insist on piling on with state after state adopting ever stricter prohibitions against any abortion under any circumstance regardless of the health needs of the pregnant woman. A huge majority of Americans - wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces and granddaughters-and the men who love them - could suffer the horrors reported to date since the Roe reversal. Surely, the time has come for all who want to put an end to this madness to go to the polls in November to vote the Republicans out of office!
But will voting them out be enough? Think of all the places they now infest, and not always elected. Many who are inflicting evil on us are appointed, and at all levels, local on up. We MUST vote, but we must also do more. I just wish I had other ideas of what that “more” is, and how to go about it.
I agree, the slime has infiltrated every nook and cranny and cleaning it up is going to take more than voting. "People" like Steve Bannon were never elected, never had any official government job - he was a "trump whisperer". Like *ucker Carlson, he takes to the airwaves spewing vitriol soundbites and lies (never presents any solutions to improve peoples' lives), literally rallies armed followers and cozies up to dictatorships with the full intention and goal to end democracy. Every day we look more and more like 1930's Germany - an industrialized country that got sucked into following pure evil. As with our own Civil War, the rise of Hitler and Nazi Germany has been studied inside and out so we "don't forget" and yet here we are. And, unlike the 1930's, we now have the overlay of the global nuclear component and climate change!
We are clearly on the path to disaster and I shudder to think of how bad it will get if republicans finish overthrowing the government.
