Cannon should have recused herself from the case, or, if she did not, been removed. Thomas's role in this is beyond belief, surpassing even his numerous previous conflicts of interest. Both have demonstrated their total unfitness for the bench, and must be removed.

There’s no inconsistency here. Thomas was waiting for an opening to pass a clue to Cannon, and he did it in a very conspicuous way. Cannon was waiting for the first plausible excuse to dismiss the case. I’m not surprised or disappointed that she finally did. It was to be expected. I do agree that both must be removed. If Congress does not break the stranglehold judges like this have on our government, we are in dire trouble. The justice system has moved into the position where it is determining the policy rather than Congress through legislation. That’s also not unforeseen or unexpected. It was part of the plan. The fact that Congress let this happen though is inexcusable, because they also foresaw this. They’ve got to take action now.

Amen!

Yes. She intentionally punted the case. The judiciary doesn't want to bring a limit to DT either.

The American voter is as disinterested in Cannon's logic and ruling, as they are with how misdemeanor bookkeeping errors can turn into 34 felonies in NYC. Just as the public fails to see why it matters if Trump kept his secret docs in a room, versus a Corvette or email server.

Yes there are many fine and refined arguments as to why these are all completely different issues, and only Trump is guilty. But the public just doesn't buy it.

The lawfare has been just a side show. Voters are just looking at their wallets, too many migrants, crime in the streets, and DEI craziness.

Thanks, Heather. Sometimes I feel like you are our only hope with your balanced, reasonable observations based on — as you yourself say — what happened. With the court systems and especially the Supreme Court acting in Trump’s favor, along with this deluge of Republican MAGA madness, it does look dim from time to time. Why doesn’t Biden communicate better about what his accomplishments have been? Why should there be any question in anyone’s mind about the difference between Biden’s performance and Trump’s performance, Biden’s vision and Trump’s vision? Having you tell the story day after day is a comfort and an essential support for all of us who want the very best for this country. It must be exhausting for you, but please keep it up.

If the MAGA group get their way, HCR will no longer be able to write and inform us.

The LFAA Substack article was published at 11:39 EST last night, or at least, that's when I got the email about it. You should have gotten a email about it too if you subscribe. Maybe it landed in your spam folder?

When will Judge Cannon be investigated for her decided prejudice toward handing down favorable opinions to Trump?

Trump was weaponizing the justice system with appointments that would eventually do his bidding and sure enough they have ruled in his favor. As part of this the special council prosecuting Trump’s high crimes is dismissed as not valid and then accused politically of being a weapon against Trump despite efforts to keep Smith independent from the Biden Administration. What’s lost is truth and the ability of the country to have a justice system that is credible and respected in these very vital trials. A very big loss.

Also mimics Trump right after the shooting. Is he or anyone at the convention aware of the Hitler connection? I would guess that many are that well informed.

J.D. Vance is totally unqualified to be Vice President of the U.S., having less experience--18 months in the Senate--than any other VP nominee from either party since at least the Second World War. Biden needs to find an attack dog, or better yet, several, to hit on this and other key vulnerabilities Vance shows. It is his lack of experience, combined with his budding authoritarianism, that allows him to dismiss Ukraine and to all intents and purposes support Putin and his plans to destroy democracy in the U.S.

What can President Biden do about the Supreme Court and Cannon. Does he have executive powers to intervene?

I saw a woman at the RNC that resembled Melania but I don’t think it was her. Where was Melania?

She may have been working out last-minute details with her $18,000 a month stylist. That’s only to be expected since she’s not made a public appearance for so long. Certainly, she wants her entrance when she does make it to be perfect.

I am hard of hearing, “transcript” is not visible on Heather’s email.

You can look in the Substack app. I usually find both listed. I appreciate the audio version as it’s easier for me to listen than to read it. But both are options in the app.
