I keep thinking about the people who salvaged those scraps and ensured that they made it to the National Archives. Some, I've read, were already taped back together so had to have been done at the WH, and that toward the end, scraps were sent to the Archives where they were taped back together. Imagine if TFG had managed to actually trash/destroy those scraps....

I do not know the details but, the National Archives does have an OIG, an Office of Inspector General.
