I don’t think those were my words. I recall the author’s phrase, “My body is a confederate monument” and “I have rape-colored skin.”

Someone curates a “must read” item for you (and recommended for all people not Black), and you make a comment without having read it? As I recall, I provided this article to back up my assertion that white people are inherently racist, but some work to be anti-racist. Here it is again. I work more than full time. It’s a 10 minute read, albeit a hard read.
Follow the money of authoritarianism, Autocracy Inc.:
This term and its author were eluding me when I responded earlier today. I wish Applebaum’s editors titled her article “Autocracy Inc.” Excerpts for you that I think you’ll appreciate (and lots in the article about Russia and trolls):
“Nowadays, autocracies are run not by one bad guy, but by sophisticated networks composed of kleptocratic financial structures, security services (military, police, paramilitary groups, surveillance), and professional propagandists. The members of these networks are connected not only within a given country, but among many countries.”
“Nor does the new autocratic alliance have a unifying ideology. Among modern autocrats are people who call themselves communists, nationalists, and theocrats. No one country leads this group. Washington likes to talk about Chinese influence, but what really bonds the members of this club is a common desire to preserve and enhance their personal power and wealth. Unlike military or political alliances from other times and places, the members of this group don’t operate like a bloc, but rather like an agglomeration of companies—call it Autocracy Inc. Their links are cemented not by ideals but by deals—deals designed to take the edge off Western economic boycotts, or to make them personally rich—which is why they can operate across geographical and historical lines.”
Autocracy Inc. Yes, the reckless elite. You can put Epstein, Bill Clinton, Putin, and many others in that camp. Immunity. Impunity. Impudence.
When I think of this group, I think of a framed photograph that Epstein had mounted in the entryway of his NYC mansion (if rumors are to be believed).
Bill Clinton in blue dress.
Google it, if you dare. That picture says it all about these filthy greaseballs, for whom there are no bounds to hideous excess. It’s not the fact that he’s cross-dressing. I have no problem with that. It’s the message that is conveyed. I can do anything. I can get away with anything that I do. I am immune from consequences.
Of course. We agree completely. I am still scratching my head over that statement I made about Kyrsten Sinema being associated with Moscow. Something is going on there, even though it’s not publicly accessible, either I’m totally off base or there’s something cooking. I smell a rat.
Thinking more…(part 2)
“Genetics of rape:”

Here’s a take on Autocracy Inc that is a 51 minute listen while driving:

Closing advice for anyone: Write what you know, and make sure you know it.

To be continued.
Now you see what I mean about novella length. You and I could get into some very lengthy conversation.
Sorry you had to copy and paste Anne Applebaum, I saw the link when you posted today. Thank you for taking the extra time and effort.
Call me thoughtless, call me inconsiderate, I promise to be better to you 😘
