Gailee, I have had to hide my identity somewhat and in some places for at least the last 30 years as an environmental activist. The threats against me and my colleagues have included having the tires of cars slashed, bricks through the windshield, fake bombs mailed to our offices using prepaid envelopes, and of course, threats of rape and death via social media. There’s more but you get the picture.

I’ve gone back to using twitter and being on facebook after having to remove myself because I was stalked. But I’m careful what I post there for obvious reasons.

I do many things to protect this democracy. And nothing and no one can silence me. But being careful is wise. As you say, be resilient and courageous. We are needed and our voices are important. Thanks for all that you do.

You are so brave. I follow the women environmental rights activists - especially Mexico and South America. Some have been murdered. I'm not nearly that brave or vocal now that I live in another country.I 🌹🐞🦋
