McC also asked to schedule Tя☭mp's Senate impeachment trial at the beginning of February. Schumer replied to all that by announcing the process would start Monday. I think this comes to, "if you won't agree to basic setup, then we'll try Tя☭mp while you think it over." I am hoping that means that Schumer is not going to put up with McC pushing him for more power.
I'm glad Schumer is not going to be pushed around/threatened. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I just hope the Dems don't back down, and that McTurtleneck will finally be put in his place.
There needs to be some kind of rules for this kind of abuse of power and the ability to shut down the function of the Senate. Senators need to be focused to come together and with discussion enact laws beneficial to the American People. Of course there will be compromise on both sides but it has fallen into such a backstabbing, if you don't do this, I'll do that. As opposed to Ok, I'll agree to this if you will let me that that. The behind the scene lobbiest manipulation and payoffs needs to be controlled somehow. It almost seems it needs to get back to each proposal needs to have specific backup on how and why it is more beneficial to the most people. So much seems to be done for their own personal profit these days or just to get re-election support. The American People's needs have been an after thought.
McC has spent most of the last 12 years keeping the Senate from voting. He is very proud of that, and wants most of all to be able to continue doing it. It is wrong for one man, elected by a tiny percentage of the nation and beholden to an even smaller (but wealthier) group of wealthy donors, to have that kind of power.
