I got that in the US there are people who actually think their rights are being infringed by being asked to behave like responsible grown-up. The writer was pointing out that wearing masks and doing other responsible things is not the same thing as the kinds of things that can happen in authoritarian countries. Give some thought to that, because one of the big topics right now is that we are dealing with the possibility of our own country heading that direction. While foolish, self-absorbed people whine about masks and vaccines, they are being used to set the stage for infringing on REAL rights, like the right to vote or make your own choices about your body.
