Well, there is make-believe and reality. The worst part about religion is that folks willingly accept other people's fiction as fact and are willing to dedicate their lives, defend/die for it. Kinda' hard to have rational discussions with these types of folk, especially when they think there exists better conditions after death.

I really don't want to have this discussion with you on this. I am a reiki practitioner and reiki is about energy. I confess to refusing to pray for anyone, but I do send reiki energy. I have seen some strange things while in reiki sessions that are unseeable. I grounded myself when I visited Auschwitz. I am also interested in the makeup of the universe and quantum physics although I do not pretend to understand well the concepts in this fields. I can have rational discussions with the two people I mentioned as well as most everyone I know even though most of them have some kind of spiritual belief. I do have an ex-classmate who is far right Christian and a R. No rational discussion with her and she told she was glad she was not as educated as I am. I told her that my basic feelings about racism, etc. had little to do with my formal education as well as knowing many people who are not as well educated in the formal sense as I am, who feel the same. This is the person who has never mentioned January 6th...crickets. As for the afterlife, most people I know are concerned with the here and now whatever their beliefs.
