“Which sadly may explain a lot…”Yes, and Anabaptists who took up arms in the 16th C. and since might be appropriately lumped with Crusaders and Inquisitors…but then was Bonhoeffer wrong to “take ip arms” by joining a plot to kill Hitler? It’s all really very complicated, isn’t it? None of us gets it all right. I like to think that all of us get at least some of it right…but know that is not reasonable either. But only by talking to and understanding one another are we going to prevent the most horrid of outcomes. And we are witnessing some pretty horrid outcome right now.

It seems to me that the Quakers do a good job of following Jesus. I personally believe in violence as the very last resort, certainly to repel the likes of Hitler. Not to bomb countries such as Iraq on the basis of speculation and/or lies. Gun and violence obsessed hate mongers may be worthy of forgiveness, but their is no meaningful way they are "Christian".
