Rational thinking can not lead us to complacency. We were gobsmacked that Jobba the Hutt was elected in 2016 and then received 73 million votes in 2020.The fear-mongering and nihilistic Republicans could well be on the cusp of winning in 2024 unless we are able to trump them with accomplishments and programs that demonstrably serve the basic needs and interests of a majority of American citizens.
We are dealing with a white supremacist, fascist cult. They cannot critically think. And Faux & Co., as you so rightly state, Jeri, must be shut-down if we are to stop the continued brainwashing. There is no other way to stop this kind of mind-control of the masses than to plug-up the mouthpieces.
much better. I haven't played bridge in years but I did used to like using the word in sentences, until 2015. It's truly astonishing to me how 45 is not in jail by now.
As much as I would like to agree with you on this Keith, I have a worry that the capture of their minds is maybe biggest difficultly we face. They are framing this in religious terms, End Times/Rapture/etc., “Locked and Loaded”. Breaking thorough to someone in a domestic abuse situation or in a cult is unknown to most of us. Not only have the House, Supreme Court, and MSM been captured, but so have the minds of some very persuadable, vulnerable, narrow-thinkers. I agree we do need to stay the course on delivering improvements to Americans in the way Biden has done. But will it be enough to pierce the thick coating of bullshit the extremists are encrusted with?
MLR Sadly, I agree with you. It boggles my mind that some ‘well-educated’ Americans have bought into the fear, chaos, and gross incompetence of the herd that stampeded towards Trump in 2016. Their false cultishness and insidious conspiracies SHOULD disqualify them in any popular election.
Instead, we are seeking to wage rationality and accomplishments against these anti-Christ nihilists. It will be a constant and nasty electoral struggle.
We need a task force devoted and focused on responding to their rants. It's long overdue and the DNC has been delinquent in this effort. But then I repeat myself!
Eadie I am hoping for a more expanded ‘Lincoln Project’ with a focus on basic Republican absurdities and Democratic accomplishments and programs designed to serve the great majority of Americans. Hammer, hammer, hammer! Also, with some humor? Expose the nihilism and fear mongering with brief retorts. Keep it simple stupid (KISS).

If we don’t shut down the propaganda machine, all the “serve the basic needs” is for naught

"unless we are able to trump them with accomplishments and programs"
That word "trump" used in any sentence always makes me wince.
JJ How about the word CRUSH? I liked ‘trump’ since I enjoy bidding three no trump in bridge.
"No Trump" has a nice ring to it.

Great ideas as usual. I follow you religiously.
MLR Well put.
And I would add our ability to trump their messaging. We're losing the communication war bigly.
