Hi - I followed the transcript as I was listening and noticed that the transcript does not always match the spoken word. Not a show stopper by any means, and intended only as a "head's up".
Nevertheless, this letter is outstanding. Thank you!
-I had an Army commander who fought in the 442nd RCT (see below)
-A friend of mine (killed in Vietnam) was born the year after his mother was released from the camps
I was 18 when I learned of this event, I was surprisingly angry for several hours afterward. This is because A) It violated everything I'd felt about my country up to that time, and B) I had to learn this in a classroom because the lived experience of people I knew was too painful to relate publicly.
I just love listening to Heather read her own work. She is erudite with no trace of the pedantic and clear spoken without sounding patronizing.
I love being able to listen!
I read so much daily, thus I love listening instead.
A consistent follower.

This is not history for me.
