I enjoy both the written and audible versions of Heather's Letters from an American, the former in the morning and the latter when it arrives in the late afternoons! Her insights are always thought-provoking, and I love to hear her voice.

"(syria).....A country they ( Russai) have protected for years". -DJT

Really Donnie? Russia "protects" countries by bombing their own cities, hosipitals, schools, water treatment and power generation stattions, flatening everything by carpent bombing, dropping chemical bombs, killing 500,000 civilians, and creating 10 million plus refughees?

hmmm, hurry Tulsi..."Donnie needs a dictionary!"

Ted...my opinion?

" donnie" needs a full body transplant!

Especially the brain, heart & soul of a real honest to goodness human being! Defective original material, or perhaps he was in the popcorn line, missing reviews of " You're Canned" , the show he thought was so ooo huuuuge!

Whatever....the resulting model will be back throwing catsup at the White House walls come January, 2025. ....

leaving us all to suffer together. Read it and weep, friends.

I am a huge supporter of HCR. It's through her letters that I've been able to survive these last monstrous months. She has kept me balanced and I look forward to the turn to the new year with her wisdom and balancing impact on me. It feels like a lot to put on someone. It IS a lot to put on someone and I'm so glad she has been here for thousands of us. I'm not sure how I got signed on to her Letters on my AOL e-mail address because I am a subscriber on my Gmail e-mail address.

That post did it! Becoming a paying member to support Ms. Richardson's work here. Sources of candid observations of events, both present and past, informed by history and academic rigor, are rare as hen's teeth.

Donnie's approach appears deliberate, reflecting patterns commonly observed in authoritarian leadership. His communication strategy aligns with insights from Anne Applebaum, who highlights how such leaders often leverage fear, hopelessness, pessimism, grief, and despair to consolidate control and influence.

buckle up folks. Its going to be a long 4 years. Hopefully that is all. Maybe only two with the midterms. Hopefully the old guy just strokes out, or if he is safe from prosecuction he would resign? But probably not after two more Supreme Court Justices resign and he appoints two more hardliners from the Federalist Society. That will be a generation of an oligarchy/corporate aligned controlled Supreme Court.

Sadly, Ted...must agree with you!

What Heather tells us hear reminds me of a recently-elected leader here in the western world. Does that remind you of someone?

Gardmond? Who’s that for letters from an American HCR?

Sorry, I must cancel. "Letters" are written. I am uninterested in narration. Best wishes, Bruce

There's a written version of every letter. The audio version just makes it easier for those on the run to get the content. (Plus, audio transmits inflection and emotional tone better than the written word.)

I marvel that Professor Cox produces such high-quality content day in and day out. Sorry to see you go, Bruce. Please stay.

For better or worse might Trump be right on this one? Why would we get involved with Syria politically? Shouldn't we have learned from Iraq and Afghanistan that we aren't going to change these people? Is Trump saying we should learn from Russia? Russia was drained by supporting Syria. What can we learn from their mistakes? Are we automatically against anything he says just because he said it? (FYI, I am no fan of Trump's).

thank you so very much for the explanation of what is going on in Syria ... you make the news much more understandable - realistic yet optimistic.
